Hey guys i am planning on stringing other people's rackets, and i want to add a new overgrip with each racket strung to impress my customers. What would be a cheap yet efficient overgrip to use?

In addition as mentioned in my past thread anyone know where i can get those plastic tennis bags that pros store their rackets in to protect their racket strings?

It seems like I'm in all of your threads! :)

I'd be careful when doing that. Each person has their own personal grip of choice, so replacing their overgrip with something that could give them blisters or make the racquet slip out of their hand isn't the best idea. If you want to go that route, I'd replace them with whatever is on there at the time, but again, that's a shot in the dark since there are so many. If you wanted to guess, I'd bet the vast majority will be either Tournagrip or Wilson Pro Overgrip. Personally, Yonex Supergrap is the best overgrip ever made and it's what I use exclusively after having been a diehard Wilson PO fan my whole life. I cannot stand Tournagrips but know players who will use nothing but them.

haha yes you sort of are. But i appriciate your comments. I will only place an overgrip on a racket that has an old/poor overgrip on already, and/or for a new customer. Most players wouldn't be too picky if their overgrip is already black. In addition you know anywhere where i would be able to purchase those tennis poly bags? I want to put my customers' rackets in there to impress them as well. An overgrip and a nice poly plastic bag (together should only cost around $1 as the bag i heard is around 10 cents.

I've tried numerous types of overgrips, and the best I've found is

    Prince Microzorb.

I am not biased - I actually hate most prince tennis merchandise, be it rackets, shoes, or strings. But this overgrip is just awesome for its price. pack of 3 will set you back 2.99 on TW. Pretty tacky overgrip that lasts, and is easy on the hands. I've had problems where my calluses hurt when I shank a ball and the overgrip rotates in my hand. With this grip, I almost never have slippage. Also, is pretty well cushioned - not enough to change the feel, but enough to ensure comfort.

    Definitely try it.

My observation is serious players who actually sweat when they play and don't want to change grips when they get slightly wet will probably use original Tournagrip. More casual players who don't really work up a sweat, or those who play in cooler weather, will use Wilson PO or similar chinese-made tacky grip. TournaTac is perfect for those types of players or conditions, but its newer and less well known.

Do you know any overgrip similar to Tourna? My hands sweat a lot, I'm using supergrap but after just a few hours the tack is gone and it becomes incredibly slippery, so much its almost imposible to play, because the racquet rotates in my hand and I shank lot of balls.

Use a rosin bag or grip enhancer. Supergrap is outstanding for sweaty hands, IMO, and I actually have diagnosed hyperhidrosis likely due to my high metabolism if that gives any credence to how much I love the supergrap.

if you put on grips, lots of folks will tear them off to install the grip they prefer, thus wasting your time and money.

no need to go overboard. the poly bags MIGHT be a nice touch, but it would never be a selling point for most.

focus on the quality of the stringjob, instead.

Poly bags are such a waste of money and natural resource.

Regarding the overgrip, if you're going to do it I would have it as an option, i.e. the string job is x dollars, and for $1 more you can have a fresh overgrip.

I really like the slightly softer overgrip over my leather grip to get just the right amount of feel. I have tried them all. Supergrap, wilson pro, gamma supreme, touna tac, and volkl. I have to say that the gamma supreme came out on top head and shoulders above the rest. The supergrap lost grip before the wilson, the wilson lost grip before the gamma, and the volkl and tourna tac just didnt feel right. Not very grippy. I also really like the gamma b/c it is the cheapest, second only to the supergrap. Hope this helps.

So to sum up. Gamma supreme, easily the best for the price.

How long does a supergrap lasts you? Besides, are you in a hot or cold weather?

The thing is that i don't believe ill be stringing for people who are that competitive. Hence adding an overgrip and a plastic bag will add to the job :p As they don't exactly understand that all overgrips are different. An overgrip is an overgrip.

This is so subjective, since it's based on feel...and everybody reactions differently to each grip...

Gamma Supreme is the best overall hands down. I use them over a leather grip.

I used to use Microzorb but switched to Tourna tac and love it.
IMO it's just as tacky, more cushion-y, and stopped giving me the blisters I was getting from Microzorb.
