Let's say the top four men traded some tennis shoes for a pair of running shoes... :)

They all line up one by one on the starting line of the track...Nadal brings out some starting blocks, Federer is finishing his last touches on his hair using his secret mousse...Murray makes sure Lendl is watching in the stands...and Djokovic is simulating how he's going to rip his shirt off when he becomes victorious.

The question is...who comes out on top?

I would say Djokovic because he kinda has a runners physique, but you never know!

So what do you say? And what times would you think they get?

If it's just the top 4, I'll say post-CVAC Djok...the mile is an endurance distance for fast-twitch athletes. Fed would come in first to a pre-CVAC Djok. Murray would break down after a couple of laps and Nadal wouldn't leave the start line until aligning all his water and recovery-fluid bottles.

Other players I would nominate...Dolgopolov is a fast-twitcher without stamina baggage; also gotta think Goffin could handle the distance PDQ.

I know who would finish last...Nalbandian has to take too many donut brakes!

I still think Serena and Bartoli would run laps around these 4, while holding a donut/double cheese burger in one hand and an icecream shake in the other.

    WTA >>> ATP : ):D

nadal, murray, and ferrer. ferrer would likely win if he had longer legs though.

I'd be interested to see a "combine" of the top tennis players. both men's and women's

I'm talking bench, 40 time, vertical jump, shuttle time.

Not a mile, but Andy Murray commented on the 400m last summer:

think outside the top 10... these guys, nadal, murray, ferrer, djokovic dont stand a chance against a young nishikori or these young americans like steve johnson.. joshnson is fresh out of college and has a young body.. these older guys are worn out

Murray because he trains by running 400m intervals, that's how you need to train to run a fast mile.
