Who can do muscleups on a pullup bar?

These are not as easy as they look and even many people who are good at pullups can't do these.

Good grief, that dude has some serious arm/shoulder strength. No way I could do any of that without losing about 20 lbs. :) Even then...

Actually, the bartendaz' leader got his start from the prison system. Giant says that the inmates would gather around the pullup bar and talk like it was a barber shop. Giant says a lot of inmates avoided the weights because someone might stab you while you were underneath the barbell, but at the pullup bars, there was more of a brotherhood and no weights to crush your skull.

I did rings and p-bars in highschool gymnastics and I could do muscleups on rings (not slow though) I would use quite a bit of momentum and kick.

I never tried on a pull up bar though. It looks like something you'd have to do if you were hanging from a ledge and needed to pull yourself up and over.

Just tried it did one. For people that don't do pullups all
the way up these may be difficult b/c they will lack strength
at the upper part of the movement. There's a bit of skill
involvled in rotating your hand position up at the transition
point to a dip-like movement. Once I made the transition
it wasn't difficult. Sort of like doing a dip.

The gym I went to has low ceilings so I had to use the
bar at the squat rack. I raised the bar until it was at a height
where I could hang with my knees bent and still be off the
ground. Unfortunately, this made it hard to use any
momentum to get up. If the bar was higher,
I could have used my legs to gain some momentum.

If I was actually hanging from the side of a building I
wouldn't try this though. I'd use my legs instead to help
    pull myself up. WAY easier.

Now bartendaz' one arm pullup is ridiculous. Those are
tough. Have never been able to do one.

If you're talking about Beast with the dreads, he's not a bartenda. I correspond with him and he told me he works independently. Giant's his friend so he doesn't mind being in some of the bartendaz videos, but Beast is on another level and not even the bartendaz can hang with Beast strength. If you're still not sure who Beast is, here's another vid.

    This is Beast

    When did gymastics become cool?

    I must have been asleep.

(Don't get me wrong, I'm a fitness geek, parkour fan, etc etc, I'm just amazed at some of the things that come 'into fashion').

It's not. It thought the main gist of Rickson's post was about how strong the guy was so mentioned gymnastics as a comparison. His thread was titled 'Who can muscleups on pullup bar' rather than 'how cool is this'.

You're correct. Bar muscleups and bar kips are not the same thing. Every high level female gymnast can do bar kips, but not every one of them can do a bar muscleup. Every high level male gymnast can do both bar kips and bar muscleups so if you're comparing the 2 things, muscleups take more strength while bar kips take more momentum. Neither one is easy, but the muscleups are more difficult from a pure strength perspective.

^^ Seems to be becoming a little 'cool' if people are setting it to hip-hop, forming 'crews', etc etc.

These are bar kips which are not the same as bar muscleups. Watch how she relies on momentum.

Our comments on Rickson's post differ probably because we are seeing the post from different(personal) primary angles.
