To re-iterate my own question: Who can stop Djokovic at the WTF?

    My answer: Only Djokovic himself.

He may be a little tired as are most players at this stage of the season, but he still has more stamina than anybody else, and that is why I don't believe anyone else can stop him. Even if he can't outplay them, he will simply outlast them. Tonight's match with Del Potro is a case in point. They were even at one set apiece but Del Potro just flagged in the deciding set. He was more tired than Djokovic and so made more errors.

He is playing on a surface and in conditions that suit him. They suit Federer too of course but he is no longer fit enough to stay with him in a long match. Nadal, on the other hand, is struggling on his worst ever surface and so not even he will stop him although he will almost certainly be in the final with him. None of the others are either physically or mentally strong enough to go the distance with him. Murray might have done so but, tellingly, he is absent, recovering from a serious injury. Djokovic never ever gets injured.

That is why it is a foregone conclusion what is going to happen next Monday. Anyone willing to take issue?

Eh, Nadal has been playing the better tennis. We'll shall see what happens, I'd still put money on Djokovic winning.

I'm taking issue with "Djokovic never gets injured". Back in 2011, ankle this year...

But only fleeting, minor things. Nothing major or lasting and certainly nothing that forces him to take time off from the tour to recover from them like for example Nadal, Murray, Del Potro or Tsonga!

He took some time off in 2011, came back for the last 2 events of the year and played awful.

That was down to fatigue, not injury. Hardly surprising given how he had been playing that year up to and including the USO. My point is that he has never had to suffer from a career-threatening injury like the other players I mentioned and had to take months off the tour in order to deal with it. He is very fortunate in being so fit and healthy and being able to put his body through all kinds of physical strains and tensions and for so long without suffering any lasting damage (as yet).

It was not due to fatigue but back injury. But oh well, you're right overall he's been rather fit (especially compared to Rafa and Murray). Crossing fingers and toes.

After beating Del Porto today the only one who can stop Novak is indeed Uncle Tony and his behind the curtain shenanigans.

Djokovic looks tired and will have to win 3 matches in 3 days to win the title. I think he'll lose the final.

I haven't seen Nadal play yet though, but I'm guessing he's in better form.

He's not. I've seen his matches so far and he has

Best form he ever had at WTF was in 2010 but he ran into Fed.

Fed could maybe do it if he gets really lucky ..

i.e. shouldFed make the final without long matches ( unlikely) and should Nole spend energy in his ( unlikely).

Disagree with the bold part. But you are correct that Djokovic looks tired but I think he's gonna recover (in third set against Federer he looks like he's gonna die but...)

HC Federer-fan for 15 years. After Federer retires, then there is only one player which I can root for which is Djokovic ;). And yes, I bet a lot.

Djokovic looks tired? What event have you been watching?

Both of the games he has played have gone 3 sets and he has looked impressive in the 3rd set.

    Djokovic will win the title.

It's energy efficiency program ("power management") not exhaustion ;) You will see how tired he is, in the SF match against Nadal.

Besides, anyone who wants to win the title, probably expects to win all the remaining matches ;)

IMO nobody playing at the moment. Maybe a slight chance for Nadal if Djokovic's level drops significantly in the next few days but that is unlikely to happen.

We'll see in the FINAL against Nadal. They're both gonna qualify first of their group.

Nope, I don't care where he's playing and what are results. For example losses against Nadal at RG are not big deal to me, Nadal was just better! It's all about the WAY HE PLAYS, that's it.

HC is usually used as an abbreviation for hardcourt. Especially on this forum. I know you meant "hardcore", but that's the joke just for your information.

All of them can beat Novak. He has already been taken to 3 twice.
FYI Nadal is 2-0 and has not lost a set. Far from not winning a single match.

    Answer : Wawrinka.

I know what is going to happen from now on. The semifinal line up will be:

Djoker vs Wawa = > Wawa wins
Nadal vs Fed/Delpo => Nadal wins

    Nadal vs Wawa "grudge" final.

Toni continues to coach Nadal from the stands. Wawa will start coaching Magnus Norman in the stands to go slap Toni. Vajda and Lendl will appear out of nowhere in the stands to join hands with Norman. Toni's moves to defend himself will be misinterpreted as coaching signals by Nadal and consequently he will go on to lose the first set. Wawa on realizing that he finally won a set against Nadal will faint out of sheer joy and Nadal wins the match by default.

All of TW will deal with it

No twists in this one. Stan will be just happy that he gets to collect the RU plate in his very first WTF appearance. Stan is sadly turning into another Berd.

Novak has gone the distance with ExFed and Delpo so he is NOT the automatic favourite.

I disagree. He has been remarkably consistent this week. 3 wins all in 3 setters and all with the middle set dropped (he seems to have developed an aversion to winning 2nd sets for some odd reason). I expect this pattern to continue on into the semis and the final.

Who can stop him? I think only Djokovic himself is capable of doing it!

Joker will be too tired playing several days in a row, while Nadal is fresh and rested. Tonight, Stan will further tire out Joker. Nadal has to just show up to take the title.

Anyway evil or not he is not stopping Djokovic tomorrow.
