Don't you mean "Who does Rafa remind you of?"

You know - for someone known far and wide for his topspin backhand, Vilas' slice shot was really very very good.

Not Rafa, actually. His forehand's got too much drive, and his game too vertically agressive.

On the other hand, when I saw him last year in the stands (on the television, I wasn't there) at Rolland Garros, he reminded me of David Carridine.

Defenitly not Nadal. Vilas was not a grinder, he was a stroke maker. Kuerten reminded me of Vilas a little (with their great strokes and fantastic backhands). Today I view Robredo as similar actually, although Vilas was much better at the game than Robredo.

he was a grinder on clay, he was a shotmaker on grass and hard though.

This is not true. He was hardly grinding against Connors in the clip at the USO (on CLAY).

That was only one match, because that was the strategy Tiriac designed for that match: Slice to his forehand as much as possible, take the net, and attack, attack, attack. In fact, he also took his chances with his serve as well. Vilas always used to slice or kick his serve in, but not that day. The strategy for that day was: Be aggressive at all times.

Vilas was a grinder. On clay, he was a grinder. He was more aggressive on other surfaces, but on clay, he was a grinder. I don't see the resemblance with Nadal as I see it with Muster.

Watch Vilas versus Borg at the FO. Vilas wrote the book on being muscular, hitting with loads of topspin, and camping at the baseline on clay.

    Call it what you will.

    (Loved that Head Vilas racquet.)

I know Vilas was not as fast as Borg. Who is?

So who do you think is faster Vilas or Nadal?
