.. when he threw it out in the end of the match
who is that lucky?
Yeah, as a fan I'd love to have catched, but a 360 grs object flying around is not a good idea.
I guess you've never seen someone jump off a stage into a crowd. 60kg > 360g
What's the bid ??? May start around $100,000
yep, a 200g racquet is super dangerous, it's worse than poison gas... especially if it's worth 6000 dollars to whoever catches it.
He gave out 5 of them after the press conferance!
You know whats annoying?
Those seats behind where the players sit are reserved corporate seating, which is why all the people sitting in that area wear lanyards. Those seats are empty for half the sessions during the week.
Most of the people who sit there arent even really tennis fans and wouldnt even go if they didnt get the seats for free from their employers, yet everytime a player wins and throws something to the crowd its to that section.
What has this got do do with anything? He didn't even throw the racquets in the corporate section. He threw two racquets in the main public seating area. I was there. And the majority of the the time they don't throw it in the corporate area, but the public seating area, near where they sit prior to change of ends.
In his speech I was actually thinking he was going to donate some or a large portion of his prizemoney to the flood victims, not that I was expecting him to do so, but I thought that was where his speech was heading.
Last year Kim Clijsters donated 100% of her prizemoney from winning the Brisbane International to a children's hopsital in Brisbane. That gets a lot of respect from me.
