Some good ones which I remember:

    Dimitrov's ultra throw-smash.
Probably the best pure smash I've seen.

Bahgdatis' four in a row smash, some of them still in their wrapping.
Absolutely clinical, and he didn't give a rat's ***, very amusing.

Roddick's destruction of the Schweppes bench after asking the umpire if he had already been warned, definitely the most badass one I've seen.

    Novak's failed smash at Wimby.
He looked like a child who had his candy taken away.
Probably the funniest one I've seen.

Federer's GOAT smashes at Miami 09 and USO 09.
He totalled the racquets while somehow looking completely disinterested as usual. He's even the best at destroying racquets.

You do have a point with the bolded. Sampras was generally the same. But a lot of players just need to let off steam, or else things generally go from bad to worse with their mentality. Only a few players started to play better when angered, McEnroe is a famous example of this. Smashing a racquet is generally a last resort, to let out all your frustration and to try to regain focus and trying to get your head back to a decent mental state. Obviously, it doesn't always work (Usually the player is just playing too bad, or is close to the finish line), but I have seen it before where the frustrated player goes on to win the match.

I've never thought that Nadal never throwing racquets is that special.
    Sharapova doesn't do it either.

But the things Nadal does are arguably worse (time violation on basically every service point, endless MTOs and breaks, umpire arguments etc.)

Even though those things don't bother me as much as they do some people, they are worse than racquet smashing (which I personally don't mind at all).

Also lol at Rafa fans (not you either) all saying that racquet smashing is literally the worst abomination possible.

Just like how Djokovic fans think that the backhand and return are the most important shots, and that crowds are all terrible and disrespectful.

Fed does occasionally smash racquets, but I get what you're saying.
I've just never minded it myself, it isn't hurting anybody.

To do that to an AeroPro, which isn't the most flexible racquet out there is just absolutely brutal.

Grothie. In DC tie against CZE he banged his racquet down to his upper thigh and the racquet snapped cleanly in 2 pieces.

you are dangerously becoming the "octobrina" of the Fed camp.

that's true. And i can't imagine for a second Sam Groth failing to break a raquet like Djokovic or Hewitt did in the past  it just looks too easy for him.

That's what I keep saying and thinking, although I think the key difference is that I don't actually believe most of the stuff I say. :)

Baghdatis always wins this. I think Gulbis and Dimitrov lead the way for racquet smash "technique." Grigor's this year against Murray was flawless.

I like smashes and I like that players get fined for them. It all adds to the drama of the game. Time wasting usually doesn't.
