I'm curious to see what some of our playing resumes/levels are here on the imfamous TW boards... Mine?... 6.5 former Satelite Tour player, w/ 4 USTA National Titles (Gold Balls), now teaching at a very well know Tennis Facility... Let's hear it Boys & Girls...

would you post some pics of your trophies?

I'm just a 4.5 all court player. I'm not in the same league as you that is for sure, but I do look good in a sleeveless tennis shirt if that means anything. :) Watch out Nadal and Moya!! :)

I used to be good before my shoulder got messed up.... then my right knee in a motorcycle mishap and right ankle sprain on the courts...
Didnt realize I was a one trick pony before that... last summer I didnt win a satellite match. 0-7 ! :(
Beaten by some pretty horrible players too. Total lack of confidence now....
Hopefull this is a comeback year. Gotta rehab and train every muscle group.

But the originator of this thread sounds like a real class act. He is probably 12! Props to people of all levels trying to improve, though!

My level of play is undetermined and can't be expressed in simple digits. I keep my talents and don't like spend it so much in so called matches.

I'm probably a decent 4.5 player. I'm playing competitive jr. tennis right now and I regularly play in tournaments. I do ok I guess...I usually win 3 rounds in most tournaments I'm in before I get crushed by like one of the top seeds.

I must admit that my forehand is probably more like a struggling 2.5 lol....its really terrible. Extreme western grip, I think.

flyboy, I don't mean to call you out, but:

    1) I have never heard anyone actually call themselves a "6.5" player. As I am sure you know, numbers above 5.5 don't mean much, because players at that level tend to equate their games with rankings, not ratings.

    2) If you have the credentials you claim, surely you wouldn't mind posting your name so someone here could verify your 4 national titles.

Again, you may be totally legit and more power to you if you are. For the record, I am a solid 4.5...

anywhere from 3.0 - 4.0..and if i'm at my best, i'm probbaly a 4.5. i'm very inconsistent on my days. i rank myself as low as 3.0 because i'm having trouble serving. my rallies are fine though.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. Me? I'm a 2.0 except when I've taken my happy pills-in those cases, I'm a 1.2 because I just don't care what I do on the court. However, sometimes my serve is just smokin'-in that case, I'm around a 5.8 or 6.7...whatever it takes...

    Damn, Shaolin. That would me a 0.0 - 0.5 indoor/fast court specialist.

Actually you probably are the best player here.

What really sounds ridiculous is those who post, I'm a X on some days, but an X-.5 on bad days and an X + 1 at my best.....if you think this....I don't mean to be harsh but you don't know what you're talking about.

Can you explain what these numbers mean -NTRP level - why there are 2 digits and how they are determined ? I'm not USA resident so don't know anything about that rating.

Go to www.tennis.com then on the left hand side, you should see a link labled "Instruction" then go to NTRP Skill Levels and it will explain everything. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I guess they are determined by a test?

    Hey Tennisflyboy,

lets just say that I am close friends with a former touring pro known as Chris Mayotte (#82 in the world) and sometimes I print his thoughts here. So I guess through Osmosis , I/Chris would be the best....and just so everyone knows...it was Chris who felt that the odds were against Fed ever winning the French. I can't take full credit for that popular...or very unpopular post.....By the way, I have also played with his brother Tim who was former #8 in the world and Tim beat the likes of Agassi and Wilander. Tim teaches in NYC, but since I have moved from NYC, I am unable to print his posts....so former #82 is all I/we can take credit for.

I'm about a 4.5 serve and volley and all court player, sticking mostly to serve and volley. I play USTA tournments and am playing high school tennis. I am a fairly good player have not won a tournment yet but only started about a year ago. I feel thats pretty good to get to my level in that amount of time.

On a normal day I'm about a 5.0 player. I've been working on my game for the past two years and have risen in the ranked in the Eastern Section dispite only being able to play tournaments during the summer months. This summer I had broken into the top 80 ETA. Beating players in the top 30, and having some close loses to other higher ranked players. I seemed to play my best game on the slow clay last summer, but I have improved my all court abilities, and seem to have more of an attacking game. I'm eager to see how I do this spring when I start playing again the the 18's for my final summer.

I will be playing tennis in college next year, Division 3.
