Thursday night/Friday morning
well here in oz its gonna be cut short on national television due to a footy match hahahaha......respect!@
Lol, i'm actually staying up all night Thursday to watch Vancouver and Nashville in the playoffs. The added bonus of that is that we all have friday off work for it over here, so I can sleep all day and miss it all!
I was sick to death of it months ago, can't wait till it's over.
I could think of thousands of better things i could be doing in place of watching the "royal wedding".
Whose wedding is this?
Hell no! I'm an American; we're too busy making muscle cars, eating apple pie and invading sovereign nations in the Middle East! I can't be bothered with some people getting married.
I'm a man. I'm going to bed early and waking up in time for a workout and a great Friday at the office. Then a fun weekend that'll include some tennis, some family time and some fun with friends.
Most women I know are smart enough not to lose one moment of sleep over this. Even the English understand that this is pure ****e.
Honestly, who gives a rat's ass? The royal family is a parasite that needs to be smothered with vinegar and buried with garlic.
What a waste of garlic.
I'm just going to record it.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to watch the wedding, or to find out anything about it.
Saw the real Royal Wedding years ago, Gretzky's.
Darn, had to read through the entire thread to figure out what's being referred to !!! But the main question is:
Will Roger Federer be attending the Royal Wedding, considering that the King or Prince or whatever is a fan of his ?
I'm so pissed!!! I had plans to go over to my mom's at three on Friday morning, drink tea and eat scones and watch the wedding live. Then I had an appointment scheduled that requires a two-hour drive there and another two hours back (the appointment itself is two hours). Needless to say, I'll be needing my sleep so I'll have to catch up later in the evening (with anyone other than that shrew of a woman Barbra Walters). Enjoy it for me please.
Speaking with a little bitterness that Obama wasn't invited, yet the Beckhams were??
We British have a bank holiday to enjoy instead
The Blazers are playing tonight! Who cares about the Royal Wedding?
Go Blazers Go!
I didn´t even stay up all night to watch "El Clasico" yesterday, so why on earth should I watch that crap about the sucked out royals.
My thoughts exactly, if you think about it, who are these people and what have they done to be in the position they are? Nothing, they were just lucky
I think this is just the second situation in life where luck plays a part, definitelly, where, when and from whom you are born plays a very important role in how your life would be and is simply decided by luck :-? . This is why I think there should be some kind of law to forbid inheritance, this way the race would be more fair...
The only other thing that comes to my mind that is (most of the time) decided by luck is the lottery and you still have to buy the ticket!
So NO, I am not staying up all night for this wedding.
^ jmv, are you sure they are "lucky". They certainly don't seem a tad happier than the common man, perhaps a lot more miserable, if you ask me.
I would, but I am painting my room and i have to make sure it drys.
The only way this wedding can get interesting is if Charlie Sheen crashes the ceremony and boinks the Queen Mother behind the altar.
The Queen Mother gives a thumbs up as she looks into the camera and says,
you could be right, but then again most Brittish people have that look , so you do not really know if they are happy or not
No, the common man is a lot more miserable.
Poor but happy man is a myth of movies and middle class morality.
Really? What studies show that?
Suresh is just talking about his own miserable life and thinks it's true for everybody.
Lack of money is the root of all evil.
Why don't you become really poor and see if you are happy? Why do you need a study for that?
I think the point was that you do not need to be filthy rich to be happy.
This is either a troll thread or suresh has a miserably dull life with no responsibility.
The only wedding night I would stay up all night for would be my own :wink:
TV networks around the world disagree with you.
My wife told me she read about people who have quit their jobs to attend the wedding.
Filthy is a relative term and loaded with preconceptions.
Association of wealth with immorality has been around with us for a long time.
What may be "enough" money for you may not be enough for someone else. And someone might say that you are filthy rich too.
I have yet to come across ordinary people who WANT to be poor. The ones I read about are intensely religious people who become monks or ascetics. Even then, they seem to find an institution or place where their everyday needs are taken care of by somebody else, usually by means of donations by filthy rich people.
I couldn't care less about the whole Royal bull crap but Kate is so smoking hot that I keep watching hoping they will cut to a bikini shot of her.
Way to school that fool Suresh.
Yeah, wow..I was totally owned bro.
Good luck with that bikini shot. Classy stuff.
I think you are still missing the point, there are more options between been rich and been poor. Obviously money is a big thing in today's society but when you make enough money to cover you needs I think that is, you do not need more. The key things here are what makes you happy? What are your needs? How you measure your happiness? Most people measure their happines by their success, here the problem is when do you consider yourself succesfull? You are doing things in live to reach the same level other have? or you do things in life to reach your own goals? in the end is to each its own but if you live your life wanting what others have you are on a sure road to un- happiness. I think...
Funny enough stuff, guys. But the Queen Mother died in 2002.
Maybe Sheen is into necrophilia. Yuck.
A better choice would have been for Sheen to crash the party with Sarah Ferguson in tow. Now the two them, doin' it somewhere in the Abbey...is only just slightly beyond the believable.
And no, I'm not staying up for The Event. But hubs wants me to turn it on for our young girls because it's "history." Oh bother. Another pair of girls grown up with the Princess mentality.
What ARE your needs? Do you know? Are you aware of how many old people suffer because they cannot cover their health costs (including my parents to whom I send money because they cannot afford the insurance premiums)? Did they imagine in their youth that they would need the money? What if a sudden disability or natural disaster happens? If you had a ton of money, isn't it good? I think you are looking at an equilibrium situation when things are all right for now and thinking you don't need more. That can change quickly. And what about your family? Don't you want to provide for their future needs to? How much does a Harvard education cost for a child? Now you can say it is not needed, but people who aim big often make it big too.
Women gonna watch the event, shed tears during the pre-ceremony Diana stories, observe the dresses, and discuss it with their girlfriends the next day.
I cannot believe the disrespect for the royal family here.
If it wasnt for the British monarchy there would be no civilised world, and we'd all be speaking French.
The Queen is a wonderful lady, a proper figure head for our great nation (ever wonder why the world called us Great Britain?), Prince Philip provides the humor, and the Princes are nice guys. Wont say too much about Charles and Andrew, but Ed is nice as are Wills and Harry.
Yes they are privileged but they are royal, so it comes with the territory.
I think most of you are just jealous that we still have a real royal family that most of the world adores, and that Obama wasnt invited.
This is really sad and disappointing, virtually everything good about english speaking countries (and many that are not) came from our royal family and our wonderfully benevolent Empire.
Imagine a young man crawls out of a cave and a wonderful coach takes him under his wing and works relentlessly, with passion and skill, to develop him into a SoCal 4.5, then that player turns his back on the coach and discards him.
This is the kind of crass ignorance I am seeing here, and it really hurts.
Long Live the Queen.
Well since I already speak French, I'm off the hook!
I am asking for facts not beliefs / opinion or personal experiences.
Is it correct that The Six Pistols are reuniting and playing at the ceremony?
You won't get any facts because you will find all the studies are contradictory or incomplete. You will see some study saying people who had up to a certain amount of money were happy, and beyond that it made no difference. This is all based on questionnaires where people often deceive themselves. Like when Married with Children first started airing and a lot of people objected, a survey was done which asked do you watch it. Most people said no. Then the question was asked in a different way based on the airing time or something, and then the answer was yes.
Also, these studies do not include homeless people and old people in hospitals and ask them would you have been happy with more money. These studies focus on a reasonable target set who are not on the extremes at that point in their lives.
Think about this: ask a poor guy if he is happy. Do you think he will tell you no? His ego won't permit that. That is how these studies work.
All studies are contradictory or incomplete... hmm. sounds like a detour and escape IMO. Bring some proof.
