My personal favourite is Boris Becker who was liked by people all over the world because he captured their imagination by winning wimbledon as a 17 year old boy. We all seem to love some one who made it so young and had so much charisma as well. Well he still makes news for his engagements and high profile personal life.

Others running him close could be agassi, borg, pat cash, rafter..
Let me create a separate poll for female players

agassi would be the top one for me. Boris Becker, Yannick Noah, Sabatini, graf, Younes El Ayanoui, Alex Corretja are worth to mention. I could talk to some of them and they are all very nice.

Are you kidding? None of these players can carry Marat's bag. He will be remembered for his charisma not the number of slams, or whatever, that he wins.

Yep. But thats sensationalism and not charisma. Although he was not bad when he played. Gained a lot in the charisma area after he left the sport.

didn't becker have an illegitimate child after a quick encounter with a waitress, while he was still married? And didn't he get caught for tax evasion?

Sounds like a REALLY nice fella to me...

If the subject was charismatically-challenged I would have voted for Sampras. But why was he on *this* list?

Becker had some charisma, a strong personality but Agassi was the most charismatic by far. To me, Nadal is the new Agassi (And to Krajicek too apparently, he said in an interview that Federer was more Sampras' type and Nadal was comparable to Agassi in that he brought more than tennis to an event), Agassi and Nadal are very different persons but they're both the best at creating "a buzz" everywhere they go and sell a lot of tickets, they're a tournament director's dream.

Becker was way more charismatic then Agassi, Agassi needed attention so he did things to attract it. For Becker it was effortless, it seemed to come natural. Safin seems to have it too

I'm voting rafter, but I know it should be agassi. Even after, for years, the guy promoted flash over substance with one single statement, read from a cue card:

    Image is everything.

i dont know if our definitions of charisma are the same but Borg was definitely the most charismatic...

He was\is the Greatest "superstar" of tennis (yes... until today too)...

just yesterday i was seeing that documentary Champions of Wimbledon - Bjorn Borg and man... if one player was famous and loved, it was really him!

and this is from a Agassi Fan!

I have to agree with Gorecki.
Facts : Borg was the first rock star in the game. Hundreds of screaming female fans at Wimbledon wanted to touch him, running across the grass. He was a natural leader of the sport, the locker room had nothing to dispute or disrespect when it comes to Borg, he won his matches fair and square. He was known worldwide at a time when tennis reached his peak in popularity.
His on court presence is unmatched.
In his case charisma is not about some buzz, fashionable clothes, controversy, making noise, speaking loud or breaking rackets. It is all about presence and being Bjorn Borg, that would be my definition of charisma.

Its a hangable offense to mention Lendl and charisma in the same sentence round these parts- but may i draw your attention to exhibit A

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xAPwx3z950

not only does he return a backhand which screams quality
    he also manages to
a- physically assault Mac and get away with it
b- physically assault the brat on a tennis court
c- physically assault that cheating overrated piece of crap on a tennis court, and show that there was only ONE real dominant player in the 80s (one NON juiced up dominant player ;))

    therefore Lendl must win

Cant believe there is a poll for this.

Agassi is the all time undisputed GOAT in the category.

Boris Becker goes down as my favourite, just for the honest ludicrousness of his existence. In trouble, and a bit laughed at, he still has his fans and the people as a majority just shake their heads and laugh. And though he is retired from tennis, he is still very popular in Germany and an oft seen face on just about everything.

I never liked Safin really, he had his moments with some witty lines, but I don't go in for the "bad boy" charisma myth. Agassi I never liked either, bad boy to doe-eyed humanitarian, no thanks. Borg has fans like crazy but the personality show of a loaf of bread. Lendl is my favourite overall for player and personality type, but I understand completely why he wouldn't make a poll choice.

Alright I know not all of you are going to agree with me, but I think McEnroe is the most charismatic player. He was a hell of a serve and volley player, his tantrums also made his matches funny. He might not be as charismatic as Agassi or Nadal but I think he deserves mention.

Nadal followed by Agassi. I find Nadal an even more exciting version of Agassi. That's just me. The other choices are kinda lame though. Great players but not much personality.
