in terms of style of play, i have to say Martina Hingis but Fed has a much more powerful and overpowering game than Hingis. in terms of unparalleled dominance and being able to accomplish a lot at a young age and in such a short period of time, that would be Monica Seles in early 1990 years. in terms of giving back to the sport as well as helping in promoting tennis, i would say BJK and Chrissy.

Strange that someone should put up this spoiler because we were just discussing this and came to the conclusion that there really isn't anyone suitable.

There probably isn't, the closest would have to be Justine Henine. She has very much an all around game, her backhand is the equilivant to Federer's forehand and she is a brilliant reader of the game, not to forget great to watch.

Agreed. She's more fun to watch than any other WTA players out there IMO. Sure she has issues of her own, but who doesn't? :)

The French Opne semis in 03, Serena was getting ready to serve. After Serena tossed the ball, Henin raised her hand up, signalling that she needed more time. Serena continued her motion, dumping the ball into the net.

Serena then asked for another first serve, because Henin had her hand up. The umpire didn't see this, and looked over to Henin. Henin said nothing. Complete and utter silence.

I was referring to last year. Henin was the favorite in four finals- she lost all but the French.

justine henin has a very similar game to federer, but serena williams can dominate the wta tour just like federer dominates the atp tour

how ironic that those two are facing off in the qtrs....
