Which player has had the most number of exciting matches of all time .

I know I'm a Nadal fan but honestly I would say it has to be Nadal....

Nadal has been involved in 4 of the greatest matches of all time .

    Wimby 2007 & 2008

    AO against Joker

    FO semi final 2013

    Poll on it's way.

I say its the clay warrior.

he gives them all hope at times and matches end up being close.

he is the one who keeps them on the edge of their seats.

as far as the last 10 years or so go, it would have to be nadal and then roger Federer.

I am not sure yet as to who would be the most exciting of all time. laver, emerson, and rosewall were probably exciting to watch.

Watching Gulbis match at St. Petersburg final (previously recorded), he's down a set and 4-1 in second.. about to make his big comeback 11 straight games. I would say the exciting player to watch right now is Gulbis. But all time? Hmm who else but the GOAT, Roger Federer. The only thing that makes me watch Nadal's matches is chance of him being beaten, other than that, boring baseline bashing marathons.

I can think of 2 exciting matches that Federer had that didn't feature Nadal.....

    Roddick Wimbledon & Safin . That's it .

    Either Nadal,Federer, or Djokovic

They tend to have titanic matches. Most likely nadal though since his consistency allows him to have very prolonged matches

I really don't give a damn about this "all times" stuff.

the only era that interests me is the one that is in front of me.

and for this era, it would have to be nadal.

I like watching andy murray, roger, and nole as well.

It comes down to what YOU find exciting.
Plus it takes TWO to make an exciting match.

You're looking for an answer here. But yeah, Nadal would be thanks to his ridiculous topspin forehand, intensity and involvement in two great rivalries. Federer's a pleasure to watch, but not really exciting. Some of those 2004-2009 whippings can get quite boring actually. McEnroe is the other one that comes to mind.

IMHO, McEnroe was a blast to watch. His serve and volley style of play was exciting and the way he hit the ball was so out of whack but bordered on magical. Of the current players, Nadal is my favorite to watch. Rafa seems to always bring his game and I'm always amazed by his shot-making ability.

With respect to the OPs attempt, really this is an impossible or at least flawed poll. Unless you lived the entire span of decades of tennis and watched these greats play their best game at the time, you can't participate in the poll. Youtube vids help but only go so far. We can vote for current most exciting players. That's a better more accurate poll. I would say again, still Roger (now more to see if he can bring the magic back). Gulbis, Monfils, would be most entertaining for me. I think that any close match is exciting and dramatic too.

RG 2011 SF was the most boring match I have seen. I watched this only because I wanted to see Rafa's next opponent.

At the moment I would say nadal. He is the only top player I find really exciting.

In the past I would say borg, federer, and connors.

During Fed's strongest years, any time he lost it was a huge deal and his opponent had to play out of their mind to beat him.

Borg's playstyle was so fun to watch and he just exuded this huge confidence without having to yell or do anything crazy.

Connors was really high energy and was a fighter like nadal.

No votes for Agassi? Wow. How soon we forget.

    Edberg...Connors...

I've gone to sleep watching any number of Nadal matches. Sleep, as in "been unable to stay awake."

Nadal easily, although Djokovic has started building up an impressive track record of all-time great matches. AO 2012 Final. FO 2013 Semis. Wimbledon 2013 Semis. USO 2012 Semis.

Although if i were to take the thread title literally, the player with the most exciting tennis is Federer no doubt.

    None of the currrent era

    But many of the past

IMO they are ( and it is completely subjective)

    1900-1930: Cochet and Borotra
    1930-1950: Budge and Vines
1950-1960: Hoad and, a lesser degree both, Gonzales and Rosewall.Patty and Drobny follow.
1960-1970: of course, Laver but also Santana
1970-1980: of course, Nastase.closely followed by Connors, Panatta,Orantes. And,Gerulaitis,Ashe,Kodes,Newcombe,Roche were excellent to watch too
1980-1990: Mc Enroe,Mecir. Becker,Edberg and, when he was one, Kriek, Cash and Gomez. What a fantastic decade for exciting tennis¡¡¡
From 1990-2013: Sampras,Agassi,Stich,Rafter and Safin. The three K´s, Korda,Kuerten and Kafelnikov had their good days too.Federer when he was playing with more agression and less mind booggling, that is his two-three first years.

What's exciting about Nadal's game? Nothing...People may like the fact that he is winning a lot and shouts vamos creating a spectacle when he wins important points....

Air humping and over the top celebrations are not exciting to me...Safin & DelPo's games far more exciting...Or even someone like Wawrinka.
