I have cured all my problems of insomnia with current tennis.

In anycase, younger Federer was excellent to watch and this match against Sampras would have been great to watch live.

Federer, then Safin, then Kuerten and Nalbandian...otherwise, " Gutten Nacht"

But Rafa got a giant birthday cake presented to him on court and the crowd serenaded him at RG. The hostility must come from a few Fedfans because Rafa is mobbed wherever he goes in Paris .

broken record..nadal. almost every epic match in recent memory had this guy in it either biting on the trophy or being the runner up. even in less important matches he dazzles. he plays every match with 100% tenacity.

Oh...so you just act like you hate him?

I got no problem giving Rafa all the respect he deserves. He's an amazing talent, and has the best chance of anybody right now to actually earn the GOAT title (though I'm still not sure anybody can hold it, as I feel you can't compare ages). I've never bashed Nadal, and don't really understand why this pairing generates the animosity that it does. They will both go down as some of the best to ever play the game; but that doesn't seem to be enough for many people (including you).

Where you grow tiresome is the threads you start clearly just to generate this conflict; that is trolling. You also live the contradiction of endlessly bashing Fed, then turning around and saying how much you like him. You froth at the opportunity to say Fed is Nadal's whipping boy. Your attacking Fed's "metrosexualism" was beyond ridiculous. But then, that is what you are shooting for, right?

I find (and possibly a few others here) that your dance has gotten quite old. However, I would never deny you the right to do it; just I won't deny myself the right to call you on it.

You probably have to clean your screen a lot, don't you?

You do realize a lot of people have you on their ignore list and so cant see this thread? Also a lot of the posters only post in odds and ends now. Tired of silly fans like you making threads everyday for no valid reason.

How is Nadal winning this poll? Sure, he's a legend and has a killer instinct of a shark, but most of the time he's not so exciting to watch. Federer, even playing badly, can produce amazing shots out of nowhere.

Because the only ones that post here now are N.S.K's army, TDK and his nadturds and some decent Nadal fans and others. All the posters are dont post anymore or are in odds and ends. If the whole of TTW voted. Fed would be winning this by a country mile.

Also remember a lot of people have TDK on their ignore list so they cant see this thread.

It is the players who do things 'out of the box' and create wonder - these are the truly exciting players.

Players such as Connors (for raw passion and effort), Leconte (on a day when he was feeling confident and going for his shots), Mecir (for the wonderment of his shots), Peak Federer (I have been watching tennis for decades - but when I first starting watching Federer - I just couldn't believe what I was seeing). When he is on, I really like watching Nalbandian - he can do some incredible things. I remember that for a set and 1/2 a few years ago at Indian Wells - he was making Nadal looks really ordinary.

I had to vote Federer. He is the greatest front runner of all time(if not, at least
I've ever seen). He takes early lead and then bring in A game to finish the macth
with all kinds of shots. That makes his match exciting right from the start of it.

Exactly. Watching him take the first set 6-0 against Hewitt in the USO final in '04 was amazing. He turned Hewitt into just another spectator of a display of tennis skill like I had never seen.

You must be crazy. Anyone that watches Rafael's matches without pre-disposed notions and dislike can see how exciting he is match in and match out. Rafael makes incredible shots every match too. Never fails.

Are you really unable to grasp that all enjoyment of players and playing styles is subjective, and based on the personality and demeanor the viewer identifies with?

Some girls find his style exciting because of his muscles...Some of the immature fans find it exciting because he likes to air hump, fist pump and dance around like a monkey after winning important points in a match...comes down to taste....It is subjective.

I will disagree with people saying Rafa does not come up with shots. Especially in '08, '10,'13 Nadal had the abililty to come up with ridiculous shots out of nowhere.

That being said Safin is by far the most exciting to watch. You either were going to witness the most talented player ever (15% of the time) or an epic meltdown (85%). It was amazing to watch both haha

If you like shot making Mc Enroe, Federer or Becker (have not seen much of Laver and Nastase sadly)

If you like retrieving like a mad man Nadal, Hewitt and Djokovic.

But all of them are nowhere close to Connors, go and watch his 91 US Open run and tell me anything more exciting on a tennis court

Are you unable to grasp the fact that Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players of ALL TIME whether you like it or not? That's not subjective. If you think he got there with boring tennis, then you can stand there with the rest of the haters on the island while the rest of the sane tennis world can acknowledge and more importantly ENJOY the AMAZING things he does on court. I really hope you guys wake the hell up one day when the top 5 are some of the TRULY boring young guns we have now are all that's left and you realize you missed peak Nadal in action while you were too busy hating.

    Bam! Spot on...

    Who wants to see,
    - A player waste time on every important point
    - A player who engages in illegal coaching

Don't really care how many majors Nadal wins, he will always be a player who engages in unsportsmanlike behavior on court with rehearsed, sugar coated comments in post match interviews.

SAFIN all the way, that guy had the NUTS to pull his shorts down after an amazing point!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvJVWFj3Qcw

and one of the few or the only one (?) to beat Sampras ans Federer while they were still playing great in order to win both of his Grand Slams!

He was always sought at tournaments, even after playing bad and the last years where he couldnt win a damn tournament!
and after about 400 racquets in ER, retired. such as boss

Okay, Monfils obviously but that's because he's more of a showman than an actual player.
Other than that probably Michael Chang, watching him scramble all around the court

    Yep.

How did Nadal play this summer, I didn't see any of his matches. I heard he won, but didn't bother seeing the highlights.

I saw Djokovic v Wawrinka part 2. You talking exciting, this has to be the most exciting match up this year. Two classics!

And how did Federer lose to Robredo? What happened there?! I saw the result, rubbed my eyes and saw it again... :-?

He played very aggressively in Montreal, spent most of the time on the baseline and rarely retreating from it.

Played a pretty good match against Novak in the SF and destroyed Raonic in the final.

Cincinatti his level dipped a bit, had an exciting match against Fed who was very competitive compared to the previous 2 encounters they had this year.

Beat Isner in the final without even earning one BP opportunity lol.

US Open he was very dominant in most matches except for the Kohlschrieber match.

If you want to know the story about the final against Novak basically Nadal started off strong and Novak seemed to be nervous. Nadal took the opening set comfortably.

Second set and mid way through Novak got his rhythm going whilst nadal started playing more safe trying to protect his lead. Novak took momentum from winning a 54 shot rally, but then got his serve broken the very next game from being over anxious. He regrouped and broke Nadal again and ran away with the second set.

Nadal was struggling big time, Novak was all over him, but Nadal was doing his best to stay only one break down in the third and then managed to scrape a reak back against Novak to even the score in the third. At 4 all with Nadal serving at 0-40 he had only hit 2 winners in the entire set at that point. Then he opened up and clocked 3 winners and held serve.

This was the turning point, once Nadal held here, he only lost one more game for the rest of the match as Novak mentally collapsed.

    Yeah it's definitely up there.

He tanked. No I'm not trolling, seriously Fed was earning so many BP opportunities but then throwing them away with really terrible pay on almost every BP he had.

The fear of losing to Nadal at every major overwhelmed him and it was quite obvious. Robredo played well don't get me wrong, but Fed should've won that match.
