Tracy Wolfson. And she asked Lleyton right after the match what he was going to do now that Dent had exposed all his weaknesses.

As I said in the other thread, she better use her looks and marry a rich guy.

For everyone who thinks Hewitt is a jerk, he handled it very well. I don't think anyone could have complained if he'd just walked off the court. Hopefully CBS will dismiss her and have someone give Hewitt an apology.

Thanks for the reply. I did not get to see that part.

What a stupid question to ask after a difficult 5 set match in a slam tournament. I hope she gets at least a bit of trouble for this.

Yeah, you could tell her "shaken your confidence and exposed your weakness" line was meant to be direct and to the point. She wanted to be a hard-hitting journalist. Poor kid just wanted to impress someone. Someone ought to ask her that very same question right about now.

ANyway, yeah, the crowd gave an awkward laugh.

Lleyton showed a good bit of character there [insert emoticon for reluctant praise].

After which the bimbo said, "The crowd is behind you." Since when did an American crowd pull for Leyton Hewitt?

The bimbo panties are in a wad because Hewitt defeated her fair hair boy.

Now, If Hewitt refuses her future interviews he's a jerk.

Of course because it was Hewitt CBS probably won't do anything about it. If it were Agassi, Roddick, or heaven forbid one of the Sisters, she'd already have been escorted off the grounds.

That was a tactless and dumb question to ask someone after a tough 5-set match. What an idiot. I think she was trying to be cool and act all pro-US player the way the crowd was during the game. Great to see that the NY fans didn't eat it though and they booed her question.

Also nice to see that Hewitt acted gracefully about it.

Wow I see why Hewitt is so defensive about everything now! I don't think any other player would be asked that at the end of a long 5 set match. Oh well Hewitt can handle it hes not as bad of a guy as people make him out to be.

For those of you who didn't hear the question:

1 on 1, on court interview:

Tracy: He shook your confidence, he exposed the weakness in your game, does that concern you as you head into the the second week of the tournament?

(crowd starts to boo immediately after th question)

Lleyton: (starts to smile, looks lke he's going to laugh for a second) Um, no, I feel pretty confident, I hit the ball well when i needed too, and uh, I'm not too worried.

(Crowd still booing the question, some clapping for Lleyton's answer)

Tracy: Well, it looks like the crowd's behind you. Good luck, congratulations.

(Tracy pulls foot from her mouth)

The announcers (Mary and JMac) sounded surpised, and even commented that Tracy asked a "difficult" question, and that Lleyton handled it "graciously".

what an ignorant and mindless *****...this Tracy. there's a time to ask the hard-hitting questions...for God's sake, you're covering a tennis event. from the looks of it, don't think she'll be getting any chances to ask the real hard-hitting questions...

You could tell McEnore didn't care for it. But he didn't want to critize a colleague on air. I wonder what he said during the commerical break.

Hewitt does not really have any major weakness in his game. Other then his speed and return of serve he lacks that one big weapon required to beat all but one player. Roger Federer.

WOooooooooooooow for as much as I hate Lleyton's "Come On's" I have to hand it to the guy for taking a question like that so smoothly w/ a smile. He's a pretty cool cat. Hope I don't see any more of that little weasel reporter anymore--she might be doing tank-side play by play in Baghdad by next week if she keeps that up all weekend. Although she is a hottie...so she probably has gotten quite a few breaks along the way. MUuuuuuahahaahaha....

Yea I thought Lleyton handled it well and with a little bit of wit. Did anyone else think that Lleyton was trying to hit the autographed balls out of the stadium?

Everytime I've seen Lleyton in front of a microphone he handles himself like a professional. Today was no different.

Stupid question, but that is what you get when you have non-tennis people asking the questions. She is a general sports reporter who obviously has no clue about tennis. They are not going to do anything to her other than *maybe* not assign her to anymore tennis coverage.

BTW she is already married. :p

I agree that it was a very rude and stupid question to answer. I could tell she didn't even think before she asked that question.

Hewitt handled it well though so that's good atleast

Tracy Wolfson gives much weight to the notion of banning all on-court interviews . . . FOREVER. They're pretty useless. Who the hell wants a microphone stuck in your face 20 seconds after you've shaken the umpire's hand, by some twit who is INEVITABLY gonna ask you the same **** you get asked after EVERY bleeding match.
Just let the players grab their bags and hit the showers.

The question/comment come up during Llyeton stit down interview.

"Q. What did you think of the question that CBS asked you on court afterwards? Was it a cheap shot?

LLEYTON HEWITT: It was a strange one. I think when you put people out there that don't have too much idea about tennis.

Props to Hewitt for telling it like it is. Looks like he took pity on her. If it had been McEnroe or Nastase instead of Lleyton Hewitt, things might have become interesting for Tracy Wolfson. :D .

I think all the non-ex-tennis-player interviewers are crap! OMG they say the stupidest damn things! If they didn't have McEnroe and Courier I would mute the damn tv.

This last axe wipe after the Sanguinetti/Schrichaphan match actually asked him "How much further do you think you can go?" in the tournament right after he won. Christ, that's rude. That's like asking someone who just finished the New York marathon why they didn't win it.

I agree that the interviewer's question was thoughtlessy combative, and that Hewitt's response was poised.

But why all the venomous name-calling? "B****"? "C***"? "Bimbo"? "She looks like a *****"?

So, she asked a question inappropriately -- got booed for it, got called on it. Fair enough. BUt is this is a reason to go all schoolyard on her with the name-calling? Let's grow up a little.

I was in that crowd today, Hewitt impressed in that after match interview; his response to her first question "What challenged you today?" was witty, "Taylor did." and drew a laugh from the crowd. I thought he handled that question gracefully and I hope that reporter gets fired.

When she said the crowd was behind him, that was the dumbest thing I've heard; there were claps after first serves in the net.

And to the person thinking he was trying to rocket the balls out of the stadium, the answer is that he was trying to reach a group of fans dressed in yellow that came out to support him in the upper decks of the stadium. He hit to the left, and then just short of them.

You really can't figure it out? It's because she's there because she's hot and female - she has no clue about tennis. And she won't get fired - because it was Hewitt she might get a raise.

If you don't like the rhetoric on this Board, leave.

Yeah right. We're supposed to believe that the Superman Hewitt only got beaten by Federer the Perfect Human.
Hewitt had not so factual things to say in his life. He wasn't torn apart because the fans here didn't like his opponents. Poor boy suffers so much.

That was one of the most rude and stupid question I have ever heard. I was like, WTF, did that just come out of her mouth? Hewitt is one of my least like players on tour but even he didn't deserve that. I agree, she was a dumb ***** for asking such a question.

It's a rhetorical question, ace; the asker knows the answer, but asks the question for a purpose. I found the name-calling even more senseless and crass than the interviewer's question that prompted it. And no, I don't have to leave what I don't like; I'm free, as are you, to criticize other member's rhetoric if the situation warrants, as dozens of posts every day here suggest.
