So will Murray continue were he left off at Wimbledon or will djoker get his revenge? Or will there be a different winner?

Murray or Dimitrov, I should imagine.

Seems a bit early for this though. Monty and Cincy should give us a good idea.

Going for Del Potro. Should be interesting to see what odds Federer gets from the bookies, I might be tempted.

11.5 to 1 on my bookmaker right now

    2.70 to 1: Djokovic
    3.05: Murray
    9.35: Nadal

Nadal is worth a bet IMO

He's never been beyond the 3rd round of a slam before. He does look a talent and seems to have the same playing style as federer but I think winning the US Open is somewhat unlikely.

Federer - surely the pattern from last year will hold and the Big 4 will one again divvy up the slams, with Fed and Murray trading this year.:)

Nadal looks a great opportunity I agree. Hmm. Wait or bet now? If Federer continues his dominant post-peak-but-in-prime game I could get even better odds on him.

    bet now

If he reach the semi finals, it's easy to bet on his opponent and win whatever the final results if you the same in a possible final

In all seriousness, at this point, I'd say -

    1. Murray
    2. Djokovic

    3-4. Nadal, Federer (if healthy)
    5. Delpo

    6. Young up-and-comer (Janowicz, Dimitrov)

    8. Berdych, Tsonga

    10. Rest of the field

Murray and Djoker are heavy favorites on hard courts nowadays. Hard to see a winner outside of those two. Should it happen, it is hard to see it not still being Federer or Nadal, and now I'll throw Delpo in there close since he seems to be getting close to previous form and has won there before.

After that, I find it more likely that a young guy breaks through than one of the established top 10 guys actually wins. If it is one of the established guys, I think Berdych and Tsonga are most likely.

After that, draw names from a hat.

Actually it should be like this:

    1. Djokovic
    2. Murray

    3. Delpo

    4. The rest of the field

Nadal is not winning USO, so don't waste your money. Much better bet is Delpo at 11.5.

As Veronique pointed out the other day, Murray is undefeated (4-0) versus Novak in the US Open Series, having beaten him in Canadia, Cincy (twice) and Flushing Meadows.

That, and the Wimbledon confidence wave makes Murray look like a slight favourite to me at this point.

It will be one of these 4: Murray/Djokovic/Delpo/Nadal

I think Murray will defend it tho, winning the olympics and USO last year may of lifted some of the burden off him but i still think he felt like he was not as good as the rest, with the biggest slam now won in straight sets. I think the confidence and belief will now be flowing more than ever, He knows he can beat Djokovic and Delpo and Federer in the big matches. The question mark still remains on Nadal....

The classic semis of Djokovic vs. Federer and Nadal vs. Murray are always nice to see here, but Del Potro will definitely get thrown in the mix.
But yeah dudes way too early for this. I think everyone is suffering from withdrawal from grand slam tennis :D

Berdych! It's now or never. Murray won't handle the pressure of the defending champion, Djoko is past it and so is Federer. Someone has to eliminate Nadal for Tomá

Fair points but you are looking at Murray vs Novak and not against the field. If they both reach the finals, I agree the edge is to Murray just based on the recent confidence streak. But I think Djokovic is less vulnerable to an upset than Murray and more guaranteed to reach the semis at least based on his record at the USO (watch me eat humble pie as Nole loses in R2 :D).

You could be right, but I have a feeling Nadal is hungry for another hard court slam. He no longer has a mental block vs Djokovic, and he always has done fairly well vs Murray on any surface. He also doesnt tend to be prone to bad losses on hard courts these days like he is on grass. So it wouldnt surprise me to see him surprise many people on this forum and end up the winner.

I could certainly imagine Nadal winning it far more likely than Federer winning it this year.

Meanwhile the reverse is true. Nadal has beaten everyone at the U.S Open except Federer, but who wouldnt have picked Nadal over Federer there had they met any year from 2010 onwards, maybe 2008 onwards. Yet some on this forum will of course say Nadal has to wait for everyone in the top 20 to lose to have a chance, including even Berdych who he has beaten 9 times in a row, Ferrer who has lost to once since 2007, etc...

Nadal is far and away the most hated player on Federer Warehouse, other than maybe Serena.

Would love a Murray v Delpo final. At least we can see how Andy copes with playing anyone other than Roger/Rafa/Nole in a slam final.

Also for Murray to win of course.

Last time each of them lost before the quarter-finals of a Slam:

Djokovic: 2009 French Open (3rd round).
Murray: 2010 US Open (3rd round).

Berdych is two years older than Djokovic!

One of Tsonga, DelPo, Murray, Rafa, and Novak. And boy does it feel good to put a couple of new (old, but new) names in the mix there for the title.

Jo-Willy Tsonga all the way. Not the right choice by any means, but I have a sneaking feeling that this might be his time, esp. after this disappointing Wimbledon retirement.
