Who will win this first round clash of big hitting talents? Will Safin's knee hold up? Will Gonzo's FH fire lights out? Will Safin moon the crowd? Will Safin copulate with his gf on the players bench? A shroud of mystery floats over this match. Who do you think will win it? Oh la la, I'm ready for it, are you?

Safin will match Gonzo's power and add a little bit of extra juice on it. "Anything you can do I can do better."

Depends on which Safin shows up. If the competitor shows up he should get by Gonzo, albeit in a tight four or five-setter. If the headcase shows up he could get blown off the court. Also depends on how his knee is.

But Safin CAN play on clay. He grew up as a player on clay, and he does like clay courts.

In slams Safin used to play better than in ordinary tournaments. He needs that extra motivation to get fired up. If he is fit (which I hope he is) I am sure he will beat Gonzo.

He plays his best in Slams, he loves the clay, and he said that he doesn't have any pain in his knee. I see Safin winning.

But obviously Gonzo is going to come out firing. This is a very hyped match so both of these guys I expect to play their best, in which case Safin is the favorite.

I agree though, Gonzalez should put Safin in his place. My prediction is 4 sets.

Raf, are u joking ? Don't u know that there are not players to whom Safin didn't lose at least once? Don't u know that Safin took his great matches by his natural strength and that is all. He never had great tennis.

Definetly he will ruin his match against Gonz and then will start breaking racquets and shaking his head.

If Marat is on the top of his game Gonzalez has NO chance, even on clay.
However, if it's the usual Safin..then I like Gonzo in 4.
