Why are so many pros using the Head Liquidmetal Instinct?

    Both:

    Richard Gasquet
    Ivo Karlovic

Are using this racket. I can't see why? It's almost a tweener isn't it?

Just seems an odd choice, doesn't it?

Karlovic uses the Flexpoint version which is even more of a "tweener" (stiffer, more powerful), and Gasquet uses the Tour XL version which is a totally different racquet.
And why do pros use the LM instinct (lots of them did or do...) ??
Because it's a great all round raquet, much better than the Pure Drive. So .... if so many pros use a Pure Drive, why not an instinct ?? If anything, the number of pros using an instinct is too small ;)

Yes, he used the real Flexpoint for a while - and the blacked out version is obviously the real Flexpoint.

he is supposed to be using Babolat under contract. Ivo is trying to fool you by painting it black so you think it is babolat and go buy 10 babolat rackets to play just like him.....:)

Sad. If you saw someone at a tennis club with a pretend Babolat like that you'd think they were a bit mental. Worst PJ ever?

First off, I'd say the title of this post is a bit misleading. Two players isn't exactly "so many" pros (or three if you count Azarenka).

Second, the specs of this "tweener" actually make a pretty good base for customization, for the same reason that so many pro coded racquets have such low starting weights. That way, they can achieve any weight/balance/swingweight combination desired at the customization stage. The LM Instinct, like other frames with similar weight specs (including the Pure Drive for those of you involved in the inane argument over which is a better frame), is very conducive to after-market modification. The final weights that Gasquet, Karlovic, et al play with are much higher than the stock weight/balance/SW of this frame. Also, it's flex pattern is quite similar to a players frame, being quite a bit whippier than the typical tweener. Hope this helps.
