Why do people think Federer will win another Major?

As always from Djokovic and Nadal fans.

It went from, “He can’t win anymore because the tour is too strong, the modern game is too much for him,” “he won’t be able to handle the up and comers,” to, “Everyone is injured and the tour is soooooo bad now and scheduling favors him, and he crowd always cheers for him...”

Pathetic.
LMAO as if Federer fans weren't guilty of the same things

I think everyone can learn a lesson from Federer - including his fans. As a Fedhead I too was resigned his grand slam days were behind him.

Lesson learned. Nobody constantly making QF’s and SF’s - especially a great champion - should ever be written off.

In this regard Nadal now finds himself at a similar crossroad. It would be silly, given his run the past 12 months, to write him off for a lost opportunity here and there.

Yes, I agree. He’s a threat until he retires

You should be concerned with your thread, not with what everyone is doing.

Rarely someone is so full of himself, and insults everyone, while making such an abysmally wrong prediction.

It is all good, though: as far as I remember you "moved" Federer above Laver.

Such an act of generosity didn't go unnoticed, especially since it is in the same vein as the OP of this thread.

Kidding aside, this really is the last major for federer. Everything worked out for him at wimby this year. all those indoor matches, rafa going out early, and Novak playing one of his worst matches of the year. and so on

Meanwhile, in 2018, we’re looking towards Wimbledon and think, Federer just might defend his title there!

Check out this thread. Why is it that tennis fans never learn from their history?

At the time OP started this thread, Federer had only 16 slams, and OP thought it was unrealistic to think Federer could even win 1 more slam.

Now he has won 4 more.

But it's so unrealistic to think that Djokovic will continue to dominate, as he was doing before he hired that "guru" and got injured, and win another 7+ slams.

Unless the slam-free post-‘88 generation players grow some cogliones overnight it’s quite realistic to conceive that there could be three old pros retiring with 20 or more slams to their credit.

brings a tear to mine eye, this thread.

Not because of the wrongness, but because there was actually a time when the younger guys were good enough to view 30 year olds as washed up and write them off instead of viewing them as reborn Phoenixes about to start their peak.

Federer won 3 of his slams in the same era

Probably would have won 6-8 if Djokovic didn’t exist

Djokovic dominated in 2011, 2015 and 2016 before the elbow injury and mental issues. In 2012, 2013 and 2014 he did not dominate since he only won 1 Grand Slam. In 2012 he was stopped by Federer, Nadal and Murray, in 2013 by Nadal and in 2014 by Nadal and Nishikori.

2016-current has had some of the weakest competition.

2014 was ok. 2015 was relatively weak, just like 06 and 10.

And yes, federer did win 3 slams in 17&18 . 2 were with relatively easy draws - wim 17 and ao 18. AO 17 was a brutal draw though.

What is 2015 relatively weak compared to? 2014?

I thought this was a legitimate question given the current situation, but then I saw the OP date (and the OP) and started LMAO. :D
