i don't think Wimbledon would let him bite the actual trophy, they guard that thing with their life. they probably have a word with him before they hand it over "no biting!"

No need to copy, just read Joshua 7:1-26. Btw, bet the Lakers discovered this fact last night during game 4 with the Celtics, eh?

Maybe they say to Fed, please win the trophy...we don't want bite marks on the trophy!

And Federer, defender of all tennis traditions, does so valiantly.

Trophy biting in any sports is quite amateurish. That's where the athletes differ from higher-end college students.... You don't see people getting Master's or PhDs biting their diplomas, do you?

He probably finds the idea of kissing metal rediculous, Biting it keeps his mouth as far away as possible, yet makes the media happy.

Better them than Ronaldo and his flipping Portuguese or those floppers in Italy, if France can keep Italy from advancing I will be extremely happy. And don't worry yourself Spain will choke as usual with that soft middle in that defense of their's.

its just a trademark, like how agassi bowed to the crowd, djokovic does impressions, canas, baghdatis, and federer play with their hair, tsonga does the party boy, youzhny splits his head open, monfils hits the butt of his racquet before every return point, there plenty more.

This might sound ignorant, but is 'nape' a slang for the female genetial?

I always thought he bit his trophy to see if it was real steel or nickle copper crystal or what ever it is and not plastic.

you also have to understand that federer had a tougher competetion enviroment around his young years, they had Agassi and Chang around and Rios and Chang. when the 3out of 4 retired at 2003 or b4 thats when federer really took control by winning his first GS Wimbledon. If federer was in stuck in the era of prime sampras and rios and chang and agassi and other including people such as becker, he would ahve won allllllooooooooooooot less

It's nothing new. The biting medals has been done for years and years and years. Biting trophies is not something I've seen anyone but Rafa do.

Seems like a Spanish thing, seen it in Le Tour De France and the Olympics from Spanish competitors.
