Why is Djokovic not playing a grass court prep tournament before Wimbledon?

Is he already planning in a week of party and another week of recuperation as a result of him winning RG and with it the CGS? ;)

Jokes aside, this year there will even be an extra week between RG and W, so he shouldn't be too worried about being burnt out, yet he still hasn't planned a preparatory grass tournament (at least none I am aware of, corrections would be much appreciated), while most of his competition is playing at least 1 such tournament, which may give them a better match rhythm come Wimbledon, at which point Djokovic will have not played competitively for 2 weeks, not to mention not having played competitively on grass at all. I find it weird, as I'd think that Djokovic would make use of the extra time to get some quality preparation underway for his defense of the Wimbledon crown.

Thoughts?

Namely?

__________

A lethal combination of talent, mental fortitude, skill and 'refuse to lose' attitude.

He is multiple levels above the next set of players. He needs to drop his level and his opponents need to up theirs to even have a chance.

An 'aura' of invincibility.

2005: no prep: 3R at W
2006: played 's-Hertogenbosch : 4R at W
2007: played Queen's: SF at W
2008: played Queen's: 2R at W
2009: played Halle: QF at W
2010: played Queen's: SF at W
2011: no prep: Won W
2012: no prep: SF at W
2013: no prep: F at W
2014: no prep: Won W

Clearly he has been more successful without playing a grass prep

Yeah but you gotta factor in that now there is an extra week.

Let me take a seat, your trolling is too much for me, you'll knock me down...

Djokovic used to play an ATP grass warm-up, usually Queens, but hasn't done so since 2010. He made 3 Wimbledon finals and won 2 of them without playing any ATP grass warm-ups so he obviously doesn't need to play them.

What he usually does these days is play for a few days at one of the grass exhos that take place in the week before Wimbledon eg. The Boodles or Hurlingham.

Nice to see the loose Fedal fan coalition giving Novak the respect he deserves for once.

Thanks.

He is a natural, one day hard court, next day clay and following day grass, he wins anyway!

That's why he's had his a** handed to him in both of the tournaments he played this year that weren't very slow HC, right?

He is as much of a one-surface player as Nadal, if not more.

It would be preferable if he played one of them, regardless of when he finishes in Paris (which hopefully should be with a win on the final Sunday).
Especially now there is an extra week between RG and Wimbledon, there is more time to play yourself in.
This year he played a 250 before the AO, and it paid dividends.

I think it was losing early to Karlovic that paid dividends

Okay no trolling for a sec, I actually agree with you there, that lit a fire under him that just wasn't there in 2014, coming off that 2013 end-season win streak.
I also think Federer occasionally beating him is actually helping him, too.

Otherwise he probably feels like he has nothing to play for.

He plays exhibitions usually, I guess he thinks that's enough practice.

Djokovic was sick with a virus in Qatar which lingered for a few weeks. It was in the Wall Street Journal profile on him that he was vomiting Saturday before AO.

It's a good move, although Queens has a lot of prestige it is still only a 500, he'll get more benefit from a shorter time practicing. He wont be short of match practice. If all goes well he'll be off grass in two weeks and that the grass season dusted for him until 2016. He's basically doing a Borg.

If he played, he was fine to play.
