As you can see, he isn't really running around much, just working on his strokes.

Gulbis looks like Andy Murray. How unfortunate for him.

hmm. I guess he's only practicing his strokes and not footwork, but that is still a bit risky

yes; I certainly wouldn't do that. I have played in the rain casually before though, and it is entertaining, as long as you don't try to run for anything and risk slipping.

I've played on wet courts and run full speed...bad things happened ;( you're a rich, good looking guy; spare a hundred bucks for an indoor court! :/

Good point the guy has money for prostitutes but not for practicing indoors. Hope he starts getting it together again though, any practice is a good thing.

It also looks like he's just stepping into the ball and not loading up on his shots which will result in a small hop and when landing could be risky..

Nothing wrong with being a little moist while hitting tennis balls.

yeah i was wondering the same thing...like a giant tabletennis net :)

ernests probably is most likely a creature of routine and wanted to practice at that certain time no matter what the weather

Just working on his strokes. Not really moving at all. Could work on his volleys and serve too without much of a risk of injury.

He and several other pros were practicing in the rain during the Tokyo Open last month. A typhoon blew through here the week of the tournament, and there weren't any indoor courts closeby--matches were played at indoor facilities over an hour away, in some cases (and not open to ticketholders!).

The guys hitting in the rain were working on strokes, serves, volleys...nothing involving too much movement. No other choice, really. They didn't seem to mind, either.

I played in the rain and ended up putting my arm out, a slight mishit of the very heavy balls can be very painful indeed.

Given his work ethic and supposed lack of motivation,

do you really think he gives a shi+?
