why Lendl didn't play more doubles to enchance his chance on winning wimbledon?

As fit as he was, why he didn't?

He coach, Tony Roach, was a double great, why wouldn't he recommend Lendl to pay more doubles?

To maintain his sanity. And Lendl wasn't much of a "people person" back when he was at the top..
I know he played doubles a few times with Edberg..

He would've had to change his attitude about doubles for one thing. The few times I saw him play, he played much as he did on the singles except that he would serve and volley. On returns, he usually would stay at the baseline and blast forehands at the net guy.

I always liked Mandlikova's answer to a question posed to her about the possibility of playing mixed doubles with Lendl. She said you have to enjoy playing mixed doubles. And Ivan isn't much fun. Probably explains why she played so often with Nastase, even today in the seniors events.
