Anyone know why there isn't a new Prestige with the YOUTEK technology? Not that these new technologies actually make much of a difference but usually a company would release an entire new line as opposed to just select reacquets with it. thoughts?

The prestige lineup usually trails behind the Radicals by about six months or so. That's how it was with the Microgels so I would assume they'll be out intime for the Aussie Open in January.

That's how it was for the Liquidmetals, Flexpoints, and Microgels. Probably the I's too, but I don't remember.

From what I've heard and read around here, the YOUtek technology with 3do or d3o (?), actually makes a difference.. :|

the Youteks are really nice racquets...but head always lags with the prestiges for some reason.

It is worth mentioning also that the demand for the microgel line has not waned in the least.

i hate the youteks so much. so heavy, and its even distribution of weight makes it feel worse.

you obviously have never hit with a classically weighted racquet. They are head light, NOT even distribution of weight.

The racquet in your signature however IS even distribution of weight.

I don't think that this is possible. Pictures for the Radical surfaced a long, long time before it was released. It's about to be July and we have yet to see any pics.

I don't think the YOUTEK's are selling well. The players I know who purchased them are already selling them on the big auction.

YOUTEK is Head's name for their new racquet technology which uses a material called d3o in the frame. d3o is supposed to be able to flex on soft-swung shots and stiffen on harder shots to provide differing levels of feel; for example, you might want the flexy touch on drop volleys and the stiffness for baseline bashing.

    I knew this was coming.

Prestiges usually don't come out for a while. Remember when everyone was dying for the Microgel Prestige in 2007 and they said it would be out after the US Open? Wrong. It was way after that.

So just give it time. I guarantee they will come out with a brand new YOUTEK Prestige and the pros will use every bit of it as well.

I have nothing to gain here. Just stated a fact, most of the players (5) at my club who purchased a YOUTEK, have gone back to their old frames. Sorry if that offends or makes you and Gorecki insecure, but stating fact. If it fits your game use it. I also went back to an Nsix from a Ksix, felt it was a superior frame. The most popular frames in my area are Wilson, Babolat, and Prince. I see a few older models of Head rackets, but the new ones are not selling at the club I play and at. I guess if the new YOUTEK were superior to the MG’s then all the pro’s would have switch?

which rackets were bought and then resold? and what did those players use before the switch?

for instance, the YOUTEK radical pro is quite different in playtesting than the Microgel Radical Pro. i prefer the latter, because the balance is more to my liking. if the people at your club blindly bought the sticks without knowing anything about them, shame on them, and you, for assuming the racquets were to blame.

Of the 5, 2 were using the old I.Radical and upgraded to the latest version. This players are seasoned and probably 5.0 to 5.5. Very capable players, reason for change, getting hard to find I-Radicals, and they would like to purchase new ones. I saw them playing earlier this week, and both are back to the I.Radicals.

One switched from the Head Prestige to the Prince EXO3 93. He demoed the Head YOUTEK Speed 18x20, and said the Prestige was better, but he loves and uses the Prince EXO3 93 exclusively. He is rated 6.0 and a teaching pro. The other 2 I have not seen lately, but both were using LM something, not sure.

I hit with his YOUTEK Speed and it was OK, but nothing special. Could have been the string, but not as good as my current KB.

After you learn how to play tennis and reach a level, changing equipment or upgrading is a pain in the butt! It never feels as good as the old one. Took me almost a year to find a replacement for the Ti.Radical, used it for 4 years before finding a suitable replacement. Look what has happened to Novak! He should dump the sponsor money and go back with Wilson.

Next time I run into them, will ask what they disliked about the YOUTEK’s.

5.0 isn't a touring pro, 6.0 isn't a touring pro. That is completely different than a player like Djokovic struggling with a new frame. Touring pro's play the sport for money and for a living and are the only ones who do so with any success. They have an obsession with equipment (especially the very top guys) becuase they have the most precise stroke on the planet. This is why many refuse to switch from old models.

The idea that any player not on the pro tour can't find a new frame out of all the models currently available to replace a four or five year old model and have the same level of success is a bit strange.

I agree, the prestige was one of the first microgel racquets bought out from memory so it should be one of the first YOUTEK racquets to be bought out ..

It has already been confirmed that the Prestiges have come out AFTER the other Head racquets in previous tech upgrades.

    NO.. gorecki is not insecure...

Gorecki Firmly believes that you are very stupid if you think Djokovic is playting with a stock YTSP, just like when you thought that he was playing with a KBlade... your raquet fwiw... wich explains your preposturous posts on how he used to play good with wilson...

and gorecki only uses vintage frames from several brands...

I would make sure you demo that youtek speed 16 19 before you trade in your Prestige. I tried both speed MP's and did not care for them at all compared to my Prestige Pro.

Also, FED15 ,the time line for the MG releases was Extreme Pro- March 2007, Radicals-July 2007 and finally Prestiges came out last in January 08 just before the AO.

That's because the Prestige Pro is such a great frame and pretty unique with the open pattern and not being so insanely headlight as many other player frames.

    global economic meltdown...effects tennis

Head is facing what every biz is now... significant decreased demand for product. Consider the MG prestige just came out a year ago and is touted as being closer to the original PC than iP,LM or FP. Why would they kill off MG and eat the marketing costs if it is still selling steady? My guess is Head will wait till 2010 at the earliest to kill off the MG Prestige line...

You did it the right way. Instead of coming on here saying oh Youtek is fake, it's bull**** blah blah you actually playtested it and decided to stick with the microgels.

I don't usually play with Head rackets so when I tried out some of the youteks I didn't notice anything drastic, good or bad. That said, that orange youtek stuff is fun to play with though! My club has a sample and it's really cool.

Just curious - if Head does come out with a Youtek Prestige line, what would the specs be? The TW listed Youtek Speed 18x20 specs are pretty close to the Flexpoint Prestige MP specs and the Microgel Prestige MPs:

Youtek Speed MP: 18x20, 11.8 oz strung, 7pts HL, 317 swgwght, 65 flex.
Microgel Prestige MP: 18x20, 11.8 oz strung, 7pts HL, 320 swgwght, 63 flex.
Flexpoint Prestige MP: 18x20, 12.0 oz strung, 7pts HL, 322 swgwght, 65 flex.

My guess is the Youtek Prestige line would consist of a 93 sq, 12oz+ 18x20, and maybe a 98 sq, 12.3oz 16x18 (like the MG Prestige Pro).

I ask because I'm looking to upgrade from the FP Prestige MPs I have. Am demoing the Youtek Speed 18x20 now, but it feels a good bit lighter and less powerful than my FPs, more than the specs indicate I think, the material may have something to do with it. I do realize the strings make some difference, Head FXP in the demo, NRG in my FPs. But overall I don't think the Youtek is going to work without some lead, which I don't really like doing.
