if im going to use 16 gauge co-poly string on tight string pattern like 18x20 or 18x19?
What string? Tension?
main recoil 16 / cross BBO 16 @ 50LBS. im a 4.0 player. 5.0 if i practice much..
First and foremost, that setup might feel boardy to some. It depends on what you normally string with and at what tension you string that at.
On a different note, I don't think you understand the difference between a 4.0 and a 5.0 if you think a little bit of practice will bump you up that much.
Not necessarily. It depends what tension, and what poly. Smooth polys will usually be softer, but there are exceptions (i.e Black Widow. Soft polys include BHB, Big Ace, Polystar Energy, Genesis Black Magic, and Dunlop Black Widow. They won't feel boardy unless you string them really tightly.
Agree completely with this. I play exclusively with racquets with tight string patterns (think Redondo, TF325, Becker 11/Legend/Melbourne, etc). While each racquet responds well to low tension on the stringbed (control plus some extra power), the same tension doesn't suit every type of string. In other words, BHB may be perfect in the Redondo at 48#, but at that tension Big Ace is a rocket launcher...
