Will Ralph schedule like Serena?

It seems that a lot of folks here think that Ralph has given up,packed up,gonna retire etc etc.

Do you think Ralph will from here onwards just play the clay-swing and maybe Wimby, rack up as many slams as possible in the clay-grass season and try to overtake Federer's slam count with this strategy?

    Thoughts? :)

Thats a terrible strategy. I don't like it. A key element is missing. In order for this to work he'd need fill that missing key element. Nadal would need to start a clothing line. Perhaps call it something clever like "eleven" or something because that is the slam count he's at.

You don't think Nadal will focus solely on the clay and grass season from here on out? Why's that?

If you mean showing up at 9am every morning at the local Krispy Kreme, then no.

Serena is the only player, man or women, so supremely talented that she can do that and still dominate and win big anytime she wants. Federer, Navratilova, Graf, Sampras would never get away with it, as even as talented as they are they dont have the same superhuman talent Serena possesses. Seles in her 2nd career attempted the same lax diet and lifestyle as Serena, and found herself a second rate player incapable of even contending for slams ever again. Serena really has it all, she can have it all, the glamor, the various careers outside tennis, eat and train as she wants, and still win so much many are now calling her the female tennis GOAT. All others would want what she has, but there is only one Serena.

lol, what a load of bull ........ Serena only gets/got away with it because of the pathetic state of the WTA field ...... nothing to do with her being supposedly more talented than fed/sampras/graf/navratilova ...

If Nadal choose to play 4 slam events and only a few of his favorite one(barcelona, Monte Carlo), obviously the ATP isn't going to like it. And other player will soon follow his footstep.

Seles came back after someone tried to kill her, she was never going to be the same player after that, Serena on the other hand was threatening to do the killing, very glamorous, the only reason someone would refer to her as the GOAT is because like one, she'll eat any and everything.

She wouldn't even win 2 games on the men's tour against a top 100 player. The WTA is a complete joke. Nadal could take 6 years off and still come and win Wimbledon, RG, USO and AO on the women's tour, destroying your precious little Serena in the process without dropping 2 games.

I remember when Nadal hit the ball to Serena during the 'Hit for Haiti' fun exho 2 years ago prior to the AO. Serena literally was shocked and said "OMG....so much spin!!!!!" as she struggled to return Nadal's massive topspin forehand.  And Nadal was only playing around! Serena and her sister tried to compete with a man once and got buried. Braasch was drinking and smoking at the same time too. LOL!

Serena only got to get away with it from 2008-2010 because she played people like Safina, Jankovic and Zvonareva in major finals and had players like Kuznetsova and Azarenka blow huge leads against her at majors. Graf/Navratilova never had it as easy in major finals in comparison. Serena in many ways had superhuman luck in many of her majors. Prime Graf substituted for Serena would probably have won every major played from 2008-2010 without dropping a set. Serena is definitely gifted and at her best among the best but your exxagerations are getting ridiculous.

Serena is one of the greatest ever of all time, and if we used ability alone as the yardstick for greatness, perhaps the greatest.

But it is not her talent and ability alone that allows her to have such a schedule. It is the relative weakness of the field around her that allows her to do this. And it isn't just Serena - look at Clijsters and Henin, elite players at the time of retirement who came back after extended absences to win majors and make finals.

On the men's side, this just isn't feasible.

I share the same view. The 2008 was the year that started with a weak field. Henin retired, and Sharapova injured her shoulder and needed surgery. Clijsters was retired and had a baby. That year alone Ivanovic reaches #1, and Jankovic ended the year #1. From there on, Safina and Wozniacki held the #1 and also ended the year #1. These players are considered weak #1, and that is even coming from many Serena fans. Also, had Clijsters never returned, one can argue that she's done and doesn't have nothing left. However, she did return and won 2 slams including beating Serena/Venus at the slam.

For the atp to be this fortunate, Nadal would retired after 2008, Nole getting injured and required surgery, and Murray retire to have a family. Ferrer, Davy , Del Potro are like the Wozniacki/Jankovic/Safina who would reach #1 plus end the year #1, given that is if Fed play less tennis like Serena.

Comparing Serena on the WTA to Nadal on the ATP is like comparing apples to oranges...They just ain't the same.

Serena is one of the greatest on the women's side. However, the reason isn't weakness of the field. The reason is that her relative strength, compared to the rest of the field, is far greater than the relative strength between any 2 players on the men's tour.

Serena is just so much stronger than the next strongest women's player, that they don't stand a chance. This is not true on the men's side.

Actually, she doesn't look *that* big in person. TV definitely makes her look bigger. However, we are comparing her to extremely lean players on the WTA.

OP: he should alter his schedule, only focusing on the majors, as he is aging, but with sensible rest, he is still talented enough to take several majors over the next five years or so.

Wussie is the guy who has a history of blubbering like a baby in front of the world when he loses matches.

So instead of showing his emotion, it's better off being manly by threaten someone's life by shoving the tennis ball down his throat?

He would have to win the channel slam three years in a row and then another slam the next year to overtake Federer that way. I don't even know if he's going to play for another 4 years, let alone win every slam he participates in. Oh and this is assuming Federer doesn't win any slams from now on, which is far from certain.

Your comment is bull, Serena is thirty one years old yet she is head and shoulders above the rest of the WTA Tour. Serena's results prove she's the best. Serena is better than Graf and Navratilova both say Serena is an incredible champion. In Graf and Navatilova's eras they hardly had any competiton. Serena has beaten three different generations in her amazing tennis career. Serena is still the benchmark for greatness she had an 8-0 record against Sharapova and Azarenka the so called number 2 and number 1 female tennis players in the world.
