Will somebody tell Nadal...

  1. that he's not supposed to eat the trophy. He did it again with the Laurelus award. Don't they have a buffet at awards ceremonies? Didn't anyone tell him there's free food available? Somebody take the trophy away and give the growing boy a sandwich!

I think the photographers probably ask him to do it now as routine, after the first time. It's become his trademark.

    Maybe.
I don't care if he bites his tournament trophies, it's funny actually, but I think he shouldn't bite Awards as well. It doesn't seem right, imo!

It's not right or wrong, it's a style thing. I actually like to see a bit of humour and irreverence at some of these pompous black tie events. No one should ever take themselves too seriously.

the expression: "I love you so much I could just eat you up." I think it shows affection for his trophys, and a little humor too.

Yeah Nadal's weird and likes biting his trophies for the cameras. I've never seen him with any girlfriends yet. All I know is he hangs out with Feliciano Lopez alot. Is he really u know what I mean...

Biting the trophy is one of Rafa's trademarks -- he has several of them by now. Such as jumping as a boxer during the coin toss, sprinting to the baseline for the warm-up, wearing piratas, etc., etc. He is a bit unique.

As for his girlfriend. Yes, he has one -- a lovely girl in Mallorca named Maria Francesca. The two of them could make a fortune doing toothpaste commercials:

I love the photos of Rafa and his Mum at the Laureus:

But my fave, with the King of Spain:

And no worries. Rafa escorted his mother to the event, but his father escorted his sister. Not a great photo, but nice the whole family was there:

Hewitt looks like he is going to say, not too close mate, I am a bloke not a shelia.

I cracked up the other day when someone said Nadal looked like a ********.

So if he does have some rodent in him, it could explain his desire to gnaw on things.

Hewitt's "WTF?" expression is pretty funny. Getting a little too close there, mate.

i find it kind of interesting that a lot of the top pros are finding their own 'unique' way of celebrating a win...Agassi's 'four-corner' bow, Fed's racquet wave, Sharapova's little pirouette...I suppose it's nice to see a little bit of personality on the court, however contrived it might be.
