I've always loved the Tachini tennis apparel. Will TW be adding their shoes to the line up?? I hope so! ;) CC

Italian footwear is justifiably famous for style, but has never been known for comfort or functionallity. The only tennis shoes I ever had to discard immediately were Italian (Lotto) and Martina Hingis wound up in court claiming that Fila footwear ruined her career. "Watch out."

    Hi El Diable,

Just a quick clarification that Martina's lawsuit in regards to footwear was actually against Sergio Tacchini.

    Hope that helps,
    John

Now that you two mention it, I think Pete had to use 'faux' Tachini shoes back in the day. He actually drew the logo on athletic tape and put it over the 'W' on his preferred Wilson shoes.

Still, I might want them for weekend wear and style points. ;)

The shoes are not available in the U.S. as of now. I'll look into the apparel.

Pete's Tacchini's were actually Wilson Pro Staff Leather/Mesh jobs, and they were professionally customized for him with genuine Tacchini logoing applied to the shoes.

I cannot believe how Italian shoes are getting dogged here. 30 years ago, Diadora elevated tennis shoe tech when the local state of the art was the wack Nike Wimbledon. Lotto makes a top-flight shoe to this day. Hingis needed a scapegoat at that phase of her career.

Word on the street is ST is currently developing its shoe line. Look for better things to come from this brand and for availability (including US distribution) probably next year.

Will this include a 'retro' line? They need to bring back that late 70's and early 90's stuff........... ;) CC

Don't forget the stuff from the 80's. The ST worn by McEnroe, Wilander, and Cash was awsome.

Sergio Tacchini made a lot of the retro stuff from the '70's and 80's over the past few years, some of which was available at TW about a year ago. Don't know if they're still making them but I picked up a lot of the stuff over the past year or so, including a few '70's track jackets and some shirts with the multi-colored stripes on the sleeves like McEnroe wore at Wimbledon in 1980.

We just met with the US Tacchini distributor and shoes aren't on the agenda until 2008, at the earliest. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. Don/Tennis Warehouse
