Will Venus Williams or Martina Hingis forever be behind Justine in slam wins now?

Now that Justine Henin has finally(I only say finally since she had lost 2 slam finals since her prior slam win) passed Venus Williams and Martina Hingis in slam titles, one interesting thing to wonder is if Williams or Hingis will ever be tied or even ahead of Justine in total slam wins again. Or is Henin now ahead of Venus Williams and Martina Hingis in total slam wins for good?

Martina hingis is Spent force. She cant win a Grandslam anymore in Singles. The game has moved on.

Venus williams still thinks she is great. She has the game to compete but needs to put her head down and apply a bit.

Given where Justin Henis's game is right now, It is very unlikely that either of these two elite atheletes surpass Justin.

That is how I feel too. Martina will never win a grand slam again. No chance at all.

Venus though still has a chance to win more slam titles. I dont know if she will, and it will be very difficult. She could though, especialy if she applies herself.

However even if Venus wins more slams I doubt she will ever again be tied with Justine unless Venus wins her next before Justine wins her next somehow. That is the only way she will ever be tied with Justine even if she wins multiple more slams, since I am pretty sure Justine will too and never otherwise be caught or passed by Venus again.

I think Hingis might have one more magical run in a Slam...

Yeah while I don't think either would win another, I think a Hingis run is more likely than a Venus run. You'd think Serena would wipe the court with Hingis, but if I had to bet, I'd bet on Hingis beating Serena rather than Venus beating her sis.

Serena would destroy Hingis even though Hingis is intelligent.

Out of the two I would say that Venus has the game to win another slam but the chances of Hingis beating 7 players in a row is unlikely due to the fact she can be overpowered. Can she cause upsets? Absolutely. But let's face it the initial hope surrounding her comeback seems like a long long time ago now.

If Venus gets on a roll she has the power to blast through all players, her sister included. Slams are never contended with all the top players being in form at the same time afterall.

Now there are too many power players in WTA. Hingis primed in the end of 90s. So if she wants to win a GS again, she gotta change a lot of her games. Not many people can do so. She is already riding the downward wave.

Venus now tied with Henin with 6 Grand Slams & 1 Olympic title a piece.

For Hingis, I'm not very sure if she can still win a GS. Probably FO is her best chance.

Note that I did say though:

Basically I was dismissive of any chance of Hingis ever winning more slams and still am. No chance at all IMO. I was not sure if Venus would ever win another slam, but I wasnt completely dismissive of her having any chance to do so.

I also said the only way Venus would ever be tied with Henin again is if she won her next one very soon before Henin won her next. She did that, and IMO it is the only way she was ever going to be tied again, and I still expect it to be brief, French Open next year at the latest.

She will forever be ahead of Venus and Hingis now. The question is whether or not she will forever be ahead of Capriati. That probably depends if Jennifer chooses to comeback or not.

I think Hingis still has a chance. She's still young, but maybe she just needs to get used to something she's not used to. =P I don't really know, I'm just wishing.

She said it was because she was finding she was too old to play top flight tennis , and finding herself increasingly injury prone, but also said she didnt have the energy to go through the strenous effort of fighting against these allegations. So partialy atleast probably, only she knows how much of the reason came down to that.

We will see in a few years. Hingis definitely obviously. The other 2 and Serena will do battle to see who ends up with most, and as I said we will have a better idea in a few years, or maybe in 1 year if someone has a really big year.

I think she realized this which is why she retired. Probably not until Henin and the Williams retire though, and even though who knows if players like Ivanovic will have caught up to her to keep her from more slams or not.

Perhaps Sharapova will pass Hingis in slam wins too someday?
