Here is a short clip of my son William hitting a few balls with a friend to keep preparing for the Eddie Herr Championship. He will be participating in the boys U12 category. There are very few videos from U12 junior tennis available...

I will try to get a video while he is practicing with his coach. Aside from hitting balls and playing points/matches what do you guys recommend doing before the tournament.

    Cheers,

    Charlie

Looks like he has the shots. Now he just needs to move to the ball a little quicker and work the points to his advantage.
    Great looking Kid!

Right on... I keep telling him exactly the same. On this video, I must admit he was exhausted as we had a team from Costa Rica come down to Panama for a 2 day event. Thanks!

He only has to grow to his practice partner's size and become left handed.....:)
He's on his way. Still some ball recognition issues, some high forehands with a little less effort than other's, but very good overall.

Ha, ha, ha... My youngest son is a lefty. The court were they are playing is a very weird court. The court is extremely rough and the balls bounce higher than normal, a well placed slice is a sure winner, or a good kick serve is better than a 120+ mph one. But yes, you are right, he should be moving a bit faster to get the ball on the rise. Thanks!

Your son is making great progress. You should post a video showing him playing points while serving and returning. That would allow people to get an even better idea about what he might need help with.

Great job so far, CharlieB. Your son's got pretty clean strokes.
Make sure he gets enough rest before the tournament and doesn't get
    overworked.

    Good luck at the tournament!

Been to the Eddie Herr many times - live about a half hour south.

Good tournament - lots of good players from around the world. It should be a fun experience.

I think he would do better if he got more extension on the forehand.

Yeah, unless you really know what your doing, and there aren't that many around, you've got to watch the advice you give to a boy like this. This kid will find his way. Does he need coaching - YES, everyone does. Biggest challenge is encouraging his progress without turning him into a spoiled little monster.
