i just switched rackets to prostaff blx 90 and a leather grip came with it so i said what the heck and used it with an overgrip, have to say i like the feel compared to other synthetic grips.

After using it for awhile i noticed that a smell transfered to my overgrips and i have to say this smell was just revolting, i mean one sniff and i would get a headache LOL. im kinda new to leather grips so i dont know if this normally happens. so does anyone know a leather grip that doesn't smell as bad?

i dont want to switch to any other synthetic grips because leather grips are just AMAZING!

I'm loyal to TW leather, but only because it's cheaper. I've used Wilson, Volkl, Prince, and Babolat leather and never had a scent issue.

Try cleaning the leather with water and a mild hand soap. Once you're done, if it feels like it's dried out, work in a little olive oil.

I've never come across a leather grip that doesn't smell to some extent. I currently use Fairway, which is probably the strongest I've come across. But I love the smell of fresh Fairway. :)

I used a bunch of different brand leather grips and never had a issue with it. What overgrip your using? That can be the cause.

You can't leave an overgrip on a leather grip forever and expect it not to get weird, especially when the leather is new and the brown/orange color will bleed out of it and into the back of the overgrip. If you had a white overgrip on it, you'd know when to change it out. I usually cannot go 3 sessions out of the same overgrip before it needs to be changed out. Usually I play 2-3 days (about 3-4 hours a day) with one overgrip before I change it out. During hot summer months, one overgrip per day is sometimes needed. If you're sweating through the overgrip and into the leather, you need to change your overgrip more often. Get a larger pack of overgrips and you won't be wasting money on 3 packs. Look on the web for places to buy the big packs on the cheap.
