    Wilson nSix One Tour Federer

    Hello,

I don't want to start a fire here, and I know about the paintjob stories, etc, but I heard that Wilson issued the Wilson nSix One Tour Federer, limited to 2000 frames worldwide, on July 29, 2006. It includes the following in the package:

an unstrung Wilson nSix One Tour with his signature on it, and in a pouch, it has the strings he uses: 1/2 set Wilson Natural Gut + 1/2 set Luxilon Alu Power Rough, 3 Pro Overgrips / white, a card with a message from Federer, a Wilson W-Team bag, and a Federer poster. The frame weighs 346 grams, G2 or G3.

Does anyone know information about this?

    Wilson Japan link

    Hang on, it on Wilson Japan's website;

    http://wilson-ncode.jp/products/nsix1_tour_federer_page1.html

The specs are provided. For those that can't, for whatever reason access the link, the specs are as follows:

    Head size 90 inch
    Weight 340g
    Balance 30.5 cm
    Length 27 in.
    Cross section 17mm.
    String pattern 16x19
    Grip size 2.3
    Price Open

So is it what Federer is using? Any comments?

And yes, if this is only in Japan, and it's the real thing, I do have to add, that Japan gets the best stuff (for a price, that is, but isn't everything that way?).

If you do a search on these boards, you'll find that this racquet has already been talked about extensively in many threads for over a month now with lots of links to Japanese websites and lots of info, including from people in Japan that have hit with it.

Bottom line: It's not exactly what Federer is using since it still has the longer handle pallet and grip and the jury is still out on whether or not it contains HyperCarbon and/or nCoded materials.

Here's a thread that was just started yesterday: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=112842

Yes, it's sold only in Japan, and Japan gets tons of other models from many brands that we don't get here in the U.S., not just this one. :(

    BreakPoint,

Sorry. I was a bit excited to find this. Yes, I see that it has been mentioned before.

This racket is similar but not the same that Roger use, look at the handle... longer than the true racket, believe it or not this makes a lot of a difference regarding weight and balance.
To me this is just another marketing joke from Wilson.

It seems to be a stock nSix-One Tour with Federer's signature on it. Nothing like what he really uses.

Thanks breakpoint for the link to omigod's comments. I was also curious where someone mentioned they played with it.

One thing that struck me was that omigod played with it strung low. The racquet doesn't come strung, unless you ask for it. Check out my photos, the pouch contains the strings. I wonder if the racquet were strung at Federer's tension, it would affect its feel and playabilty.

    Any thoughts?

Not really sure what tension it was strung at. You may want to try asking "omigod".

In any case, I think someone needs to play with one for a week or so alongside a stock US version to determine if there are any differences.
