Dude, you shouldn't be looking at the racquet while hitting the ball.

+1. Unless he's 14 years old. In which case, B- for his Summer School term paper in fictional writing.

Welcome to the Boards. @BreakPoint is one of our 'unique' posters. He could take that same quote and tell you what Fed's favorite snack is. And he's 100% serious.

It's tough for Rog because no matter what he does at this point he'll be criticized. Moving to this new stick shows hes willing to try some things and i hypothesize its a way to get more free power with shorter strokes that protect the back somewhat. However, IMO, it is all too clear that he is not yet confident with this racket and is not playing nearly as well with it. Some can debate that it's an all-age thing but I don't think so. 2013 was a back issue, not a racket issue. Now that he's healthy he may be thinking the bigger racket may have been a mistake - but it's such a public thing now that the choices are amplified and $ at stake. Anyway, count me in as part of the camp that thinks the 90 is 'still' his best choice and the 97 has been a good experiment.

Did you even bother to listen to the interview?

Did it sound like to you that Federer thinks his new racquet is his "holy grail"?

The price is what would keep me from buying it. Way too expensive IMO.

BreakPoint, your agenda reveals itself with every single post you make about this racquet; scratch that, ANY racquet...

No, but it does mean that he hasn't yet gelled with his new racquet, which is what you stated you wanted to hear earlier:

Amazing how I was able to put words into Federer's own mouth, isn't it? :???:

    Just reporting the facts, dude.

I was watching the top 4.0 players in Huntington LI last night and one of them confirmed he is switching to the stealth matte black prototype RF 88. So there does appear to be momentum in the minds of top rec players to transition to these smaller frames.

When Fed wins the USO, everyone is going to rush out and buy one. Wilson's got their fingers crossed.

If Fed loses in USO in straights to Nadal. And smashes the racket out of frustration. Racketholics still going to rush out and buy one or three.

"If its good enough for old man Fed, its good enough for me!"

Did anyone notice that the RF97 has a 'Wilson Premium Leather" and the Pro Staff 97 and 95S have a "Wilson Synthetic Leather" grip? They're listed on the TW pages of the respective racquets. I never noticed that Wilson produced two types of leather grips before. Anyone know if there is a significant difference?

The "synthetic leather" is a synthetic grip meant to look like leather, where as the "Premium Leather" is actual leather.

I don't think I will be able to handle the heft of the RF97 AG.. my G330 weighs 359 with overgrip and leather, it's already borderline for me...

With Wilson dropping the 90's next year, we might not have a choice (this coming from a 5.0).

What is the point of giving the 95s a new paint job? Anybody?

    Yes or No.

Dimitrov aka Baby Fed using a smaller racket head (95s) -does it not mean he is more skilled than Papa Fed (97)?

Yeah the tour G is the threshold for me. I think it is more the swing weight though because I weight my tecnifibre to 352 and its not a problem. The RF97 I think should be very similar to the Tour G, but the Tour G is most likely going to feel a lot more classic and soft.

It was a nice lesson to learn though - basically I need to go with a stick that is around 345 strung with a SW in the high 320s and I'm good. Or just get a 310 -315 racquet and do some easy mods.

The RF autograph is one of those sticks that probably will feel awesome with all that weight initially, but after a set you will find yourself hitting long and just not getting enough tip speed.

The last wilson PJs in my opinion were brutal. So this one to me is one of the better wilson PJs besides the blades.

I think about Steam, Juice, 6.1, the pro open and last pro staff and its just a lot of really horrible PJs.

The last ProStaff 90 was a great PJ. A blend of the K90 and the Basalt 90. I hope Rogi does not retire with this current PJ. He needs to retire with a legendary PJ. One that will accentuate the AmpliSpin and Basalt Crystal composite. Black matte + Gold 88 stripes. The ROGI Russell 93.

Wilson has been attempting to stockpile Fed's sweat for years... Unfortunately Rogi is too cool for school and sweats so little. Rumor has it if he plays two or three more years Wilson will finally have enough to infuse the GOAT sweat into the paint of the RF 97, forever marginalizing basalt and all other technologies, revolutionizing club level tennis for years to come. Users will become so addicted, support groups calling themselves RF Anonymous will spring up worldwide.

Hmmm....the grip has a shrink wrap on it like on retail frames. Maybe Wilson is going to sell an all black blacked out special edition after all! :)

Also, no powerpads nor any string savers.

BP, it looks to be a retail blacked out version of the RF97.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Wilson Premium Leather = your ordinary leather grip

Wilson Synthetic Leather = your ordinary synthetic grip

Rogi can't retire with this!!! No gold. No Swissness. (Sorry Peter.).
Next racket more gold and more swissness. I am thinking cow imageries, cheese or chocolate flavoured grip.

No. It will be unstrung; you can have yours strung like that if you want to play the Fed setup.

At Penn Station there is a little breakfast nook near Cinnabon that I take most of my female clients to and they sell these little chocolate hotcakes for $1.50. They sell more of these than the BLX RF 97.
