I saw some peoples claim that spin generation with this racquet should be better with thicker strings. Why?

That's an inaccurate statement. Spin is always (slightly) greater with thinner strings and (slightly) less with thicker. Thicker strings will give you more durability though, which is important for the 99s. I wouldn't go thinner than 16g.

It is all lrelative to how much spin you are actually putting on the ball, it is an increase for me for sure but 17g is not a problem for me. I think what you are referring to though are all the people seeing too much string movement/notching/tension loss associated with thinner gauges. Thicker usually holds tension better and will last longer in the 99s for sure.
