6 YE#1, a major won in his teens, in his 20's and in his 30's, 8 consecutive major finals won.

should be 6 consecutive YE #1 ...that is what makes it more impressive ....

I'm not sold on the 8 consecutive major finals won thingy though...federer won his first 7 ... then won 5 more ( apart from RG vs nadal ) ...before being finally taken down in wimbledon 08 ....

************* can stay gone anyway. They can sod right off and never come back (this applies to the ************* and not the many cool Nadal fans here).

Eradicate the cancer.

End.

6 YE #1 is a record.

Major won in teens is a record to be highlighted ? LOL.

8 Consecutive finals won is possible because he was losing R1 and R2 at FO. Seriously, you need to do better

I had to leave when the 2nd rain fell. Oh, the relief when checking the score afterwards! Hoyee!!!

Someone wrote here a while ago that after Chico got banned here a new user registered on MTF who behaves just like him.
He registered at MTF with the same name.

He lost no time at all in making himself the laughing stock of that place too.

They are right now taking notes from "How to insult a champion when he is down" book and gearing up for it's possible use in semis !

Not that I want to get mixed up in this stuff, but it's a good point. Haven't seen them around at all lately.

I thought they are working on their massage technique ;-)

Zagor is here to take care of the *************. Now If only Forehand of Doom (a great Nadal fan) could also come back, I would pull out my holiday dentures, top hat, silk handkerchief and tuxedo, and party like it was 1899 !

Magical backhand pass from Maestro. Breaks to lead 2-0

Where is @Pagoo?

Hey man! I couldn't join the match thread during the match. I'm glad Federer won in straight sets. Hopefully he will be fresh to take on Murray. I really want him to get to the final and defend his points at least.

Yes, he is fresh and well prepared for taking Murray. Simon was very tough opponent but Federer handled him without much efforts. He was going to win anyway but win in straight sets within 90 minutes keeps his chances alive in semis.

Do join us in semis, should be interesting match.

8 consecutive major finals won is misleading. He nevr reached a FO final otherwise he might have lost a final in between.

Take away the FO finals and Federer has 12 consecutive slam final wins, even better than Pete.

I am missing Vero and the rest of the VB. Where are they ? Will probably come in when Fed drops a set in the semi.

Veronique will only appear after two things happen: 1) Federer loses and/or 2) Djokovic wins. If Djokovic loses for any reason especially after Nadal's early Wimbledon loss she will be pi$$ed. If somehow Federer manages to win Wimbledon on top of Djokovic losing she will be inconsolable for about three months.

Nice to see Fed through to another SF once again. Simon has had an amazing run this year on Grass as well, so congrats to him too. Best year for him on the surface.

That's not a record - it an interesting accomplishment.

Just got back from work; know the scores. Is there any compelling reason to watch this? I guess I can save it for tomorrow since there's no men's action.

8 consecutive major finals won is not a real stat.. it could mean that someone played 80 slams and failed to make the finals 72 times. If you said 8 consecutive slams won (or 10 consecutive finals), that's something

convenient he won at 19 and 30.. minor stat.

6 consecutive YE#1 is impressive, no doubt, but Fed was #1 for 237 consecutive weeks and had more time at #1.

But yes.. I'll give you 2 records for Pete and 35 for Fed.

Federer playing smooth and serving like a real master is enough reason to watch it. ;)

I think he couldn't have had better lead up to the SF. Will this be good enough? We'll find out soon.

I know another one coming soon to your TV set...it's called Rope-a-Djok:eek:!
The strategy being: Djokovic lets his opponent hit winners at will until they tire themselves out. Then Djokovic turns it around with a dramatic score 0-6, 0-6, 7-6 (7-0), 6-0, 6-0 and yells at a ballgirl.

Simon did mission impossible breaking Federer's serve grass.

Rog is looking great and he has arrived in Semis with resurrected all court game. Not even relying on Edberg's tactics.

Amazingly Roger set a new ATP record with 115 consecutive service holds dating back to Halle. He broke Wayne Arthur's record from 1999. Just when you think this guy is DONE setting records!

You're a funny guy. So one is misleading, but you'd play make-believe to construct a hypothesis to trump it? It's like saying a hard-court winning streak is misleading because there are matches on clay and grass in between. The wording is unambiguous, but if you have an agenda, I guess you could see whatever you wish to see.

Interesting accomplishment only two players in the Open Era share. It could never be interpreted as a testament to said players' longevity, though, could it?
