Is the adapter needed for the Gamma 6004?

GAMMA does not manufacture adapters for the Wise equipment. I'm not sure if Wise would provide one either. If you know of a machine shop around you they may be able to make a plate for you. You would just need to give them the dimensions & bolt patterns.

I guess I'm a little confused then. I will most likely be getting a 2086 in the near future and saw this adapter listed on TW site... http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Wis...oner_Gamma_Adapter/descpageWISE-WISETHGA.html

I guess I could have been a little more clear in my original question...I saw the above mentioned adapter and wondered if it is necessary on a Gamma6004..

I have the Wise on my 6004 and yes you need the adapter to align the gripper for a straight pull thru the grommets....

for clarification the adapter in the link above, sold by TW is made by Wise not Gamma......

    hope this helps.....

Got it. Thanks Rich. I knew my original post was a bit vague...Now I know to order the adapter along with the Wise when I get it.

as mentioned, without the adapter, the tension head is too low compared to the racket head plane. it is so low that the string might hit the towers when you start the mains.

however, as far as i can tell, the wise adapter is designed to align the gripper with the plane of the racket head, this means that you will not get 360 rotation with the adapter.

i prefer to have 360 so my solution is to make my own adapter from a piece of Aluminum.

Kinda hijacking my own thread here but what the heck....Looking for opinions on the Wise, especially on the Gamma 6004. I see from above that cmendez79 has it and likes it. I also know that Irvin has the same set up. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Got a Wise. Then a 6004. Then the adapter. Then added a diablo.

In retrospect, I should have just gotten a Gamma electronic machine to begin with.

I have a Wise on my 6004......It's a great machine and a great value.... I would get one again without hesitation.

When you consider the cost of the 6004 with a Wise and then the cost of an 8800 it is a pretty easy decision IMO and you have the added benefit/fallback of the crank mechanism on the 6004 in the event that your machine requires service or you want to use it in a location where power is not available..... you can't do that with a 5800, 8800, Babolat etc....

Initially the Wise did not have an option of the adapter or the diablo. Soon stringer starting finding when the string gut string the Wise damaged the string right at the point where it enters the gripper. The Wise pulls in a straight horizontal line so the string would move up when the gripper pulls backwards. Someone started making an aftermarket diablo which fixed the issue because the string is wrapped around the diablo and not clamped there. This allows the string not to be damaged as the angle changes because the angle going into the gripper remains constant. Herb came out with the adapter first which also fixed the problem because the string was then pulled on a plane at the same level as the string bed. The adapter raises the level of the gripper 2" so you lose 360 rotation.

Herb (I think) says you only need the diablo if stringing gut. I am not really sure why be it makes it sound like you are better off not using it. The adapter hits the racket and eliminates 360 rotation. If there is an issue with my Wise I have the lockout for a backup but there is a lot to be said for a unit that is all engineered to work as a unit.

All in all it is not very hard to figure out why some people like the Wise and some don't.
