I just got a Wilson Chris Evert Autograph on **** and was going to restring it with some decent string. It's been 20 years since I've owned a wood racket, and I can't remember whether there are any tension recommendations. Is 58 too much on a wood racket?

It would probably hole 58, but I'd go lower if I were you, say around 55 on a lockout machine. It will feel too tight if much more than that. You have to remember, it's got an extremely dense pattern by today's standards.
