I am thinking about switching from a microgel extreme pro to the yonex rds 001 mid. Demoing is not an option for me so i decided to try the next best thing i could think of. I tried playing with some wooden racquets that i have to see if i could consistently hit the sweetspot, which i could for the most part. Is this a good representation of playing with a 90 inch racquet?

    No.

Despite some of the nonsense posted on this message board about Mids being difficult to play with, hitting the sweet spot or not is much more a product of a racquet's weight, swingweight and balance than it is about head size.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people are shocked that they can hit the ball fine with a Mid - or even with a standard size frame.
Sadly, though, many don't even try due in large part to the misinformation they get from forums like this one.

Rest assured if you can play with a woodie you can play with a mid. It's great training for tennis.

So i should just go with the mid? I got a chance to play with the mid plus which felt ok, but overall kind of light.

transitioning from a woodie to a mid will make the mid feel like an oversize. you have nothing to worry about if you can consistently hit the sweetspot of a wood racquet then hitting it with a mid is a walk in the park.

After playing with a woodie, a Mid will feel like a toy to you.
