The Ritz-Carlton in Moscow, a good place to replenish depleted Stolichnaya levels in the blood after running from the police...

The Ritz-Carlton in Orlando would be an Absolut-ely nice run in my pedicab, which would require a good amount of recovery fluids after I'm finished.

Life in the fast lane, once you tire of it, often leads to nights at home drinking alone

Missing FOD banter as I associate words such as "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest."

Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters...

Kesey's own history illustrates how slippery and unpredictable the mantle of the drug culture can be. In 1960, as a graduate student in Stanford University's creative writing program, he volunteered for government tests of various ''psychomimetic'' drugs at a veterans hospital. The C.I.A. and Army were testing LSD for a variety of uses, including as a truth serum.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2001/11/18/weekinreview/psychodelia-s-middle-aged-head-trip.html

Flush with funds from the success of his debut novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Ken Kesey, then 29, drew up plans in 1963 to drive a bus across the US to the World's Fair in New York. In June 1964, an exotically painted 1939 Harvester school bus rolled out of his ranch in La Honda, California. This was to be no ordinary journey. Kesey's Beat Generation associate Neal Cassady – the inspiration for Dean Moriarty in Jack Kerouac's On the Road – was driving the bus they called Further. On board were half a dozen travellers who called themselves the Merry Pranksters and a jar of orange juice laced with LSD. The trip, immortalised in Tom Wolfe's book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, would become the mythologised starting point of the psychedelic 60s.

My granny was a nurse at that hospital shortly after cuckoo's nest book was released. She said all the characters were recognizable and that "nurse Ratched" was caught in the basement doing it with one of the black* orderlies :)

*race made the story more titillating back then, especially since that character was so uptight.

Gil Griffith (Quiet Haven [short story]) worked as an orderly despite having actually completed graduate school. He only claimed to be a high school graduate.

The next installment in "Pirates Of The Caribbean" should feature a sinister Mallorcan as Jack Sparrow's nemesis and he could save wardrobe budgets by wearing a few of his former court kits, no?

My dream is to be shipwrecked somewhere on a Pacific island, preferably to live out my life alone away from the complications of civilization.

I'll miss instalments of BCS, though.

A paradise by the dashboard lights was all that mattered on many a drive-in theater date night in my teens. I rarely even checked what movie was scheduled.

Several summers later the Paradiso in Amsterdam was a highlight of a summer trip to Europe.

A chilled Chilean Pinot Grigio might go well with Chilean sea bass. Could this be a celebratory meal after the tricky task of removing a bumper snicker from a classic GTO that read "Dick Nixon before he ***** you"???

Magnus Norman's slam champion protégé Wawrinka has a Beckett expression tattooed on his forearm to remind him to continue his efforts to be a headache to opponents. One famously developed a backache as a result.
