Are you sure that's Alan Wilkins and not someone called Alan Partridge?

Mary Carillo, who gives true insight. Far better than Federer worshiping commentators.

"2) there's too much time to talk"..YEP. Guys, they have to talk for about 3-4 hours about the same two players. In other sports, you have many players going in and out of the game, and playing different postiions, but in pro tennis, you have talk about the same two guys (usually the top 5-10 players that they have to show every match for in every big tournament). They are invitably going to start straying off. You guys would too, be honest.

Dick Enberg or whatever his name is. My most hated.

Brad Gilbert is up there too, especially with all of his fake words.

Ironic that the ATP events have WAY better commentators than some of the Grand Slams.

Hands down, all day, every day of the week - Vijay Amritraj. He's the prince of the prosaic, the oracle of obviousness and the Bismark of the banal. Noone can lay a finger on him he's the the best worst commentator of them all. "My goodness don't they sweat a lot in this heat." Brilliant!

I heard some of his Wimbledon commentating, and was very underwhelmed.

Even the top comment in that vid is about Andre's commentary

    Taylor Dent - so refreshing

Some ES commentator - Chris..(can't remember his name) - for some reason always makes a match more interesting than it actually is and that's a real blessing when you're a commentator.

I'd love to hear Roddick in the booth, he's got a great smooth voice, he's a funny guy and doesn't babble all the time.

Boris is one of my favourites along with Macenroe. I quite like John Lloyd as well and henman also. Agree about castle though. He's a complete ringpiece and he always gets the Wimbledon final which annoys me.

I like one of the commentators for Tennis TV or some other network...A South African former doubles player I think. He gives great unbiased insight regarding the players skills ect.

So viewers in Australia also have to bear with this guy? I thought it was just India.

Pretty sure it's Alan Wilkins, he's a commentator for South East Asia apparently. Just looked up Alan Partridge, and by the looks of it he's a good satirist for idiots like Wilkins.

Nah, he's on channels that broadcast all over Asia. I used to live in Thailand and had to endure him from time to time. He could really spoil a match for me. I ended up listening with the sound down.

Barry Milns, Barry Cowan and Andrew Castle, I am actually writing a letter of complaint to the BBC about Castle's commentary.

There's not one of them can get remotely close to the late, great Dan Maskell.

20 minutes of silence followed by "oh, I say". It was just perfect for the time before the sport went stat crazy.
