Worth it going up to 10-pack?

Hello, I am in the process of getting a new tennis bag. I currently own 3 racquets and was going to get the Dunlop M-Fil Red 6-pack bag but I recently found a 10-pack bag for $30.. Is that worth the price? Since the 6-pack is $35.. I'm thinking that the bag might be a bit too big. I do put clothes, shoes, and other stuff in my bag too. Any suggestions if worth it?

I would(and did) buy a larger bag. You never know what you might want for a tourny. Plus you can carry everything you need in one bag.

True, I got alot of stuff and most of it fit's into my 6 pack tennis bag but sometimes the zipper doesn't zip cause it's overloaded! Maybe the 10-pack is a good idea.

If you play any kind of organized tennis on a regular basis (student/player?) you might want to consider the larger bag. I'm just a recreational player these days, but I tend to fill up a six-pack bag with stuff. One side for racquets, the other side for whatever else I want to carry. But the thing is, I'd rather stuff anything extra that I can in the bag than have to carry extra things in my hands, and I generally have to carry a water jug and/or hopper of balls -- so the more that fits in the bag, the better.

But on that bigger bag, you didn't really say if it was a good one or not -- a Dunlop like the six-pack you wanted or just a 10-pack that happens to be inexpensive?

Yes, go for the ten. The price is right and it is practical.
But there are two considerations.
1] Just make sure you have the game to pull off a larger bag.
2] When you fly to a tournament, the 10 pack will barely fit in to the overhead bin. Do your best to board as soon as you can .... so they do not make you check the thing.

Yeah sorry for not saying, it's the DUNLOP 10-pack M-Fil red, same as the 6-pack one I was talking about but 10. Anyways, yes I do play organized tennis, I play for my school and I am going to play Varsity this year I believe. I hear ya about the extras and holding them on my hand. Sometimes I wear jeans to the court and have shorts under, also I bring a jacket sometimes so yeah it's kinda hard to put them all in the 6-pack. Thanks!

Anymore?

Sounds like you're the kind of person who could use the larger bag. :)

Again, that ability to pack extra stuff into the bag would be real plus.

The only thing I'd wonder about or consider is the bulk and weight. But I'm betting that if you had one, you'd soon wonder how you were able to get by without it. Just a hunch... ;)

Haha yeah sounds a bit right for me to get a 10-pack everything fits in.. But, I don't think it would be able to fit into my tennis locker for school!! AHHH Haha.. But yeah I do sound like a person that sounds like I need a bigger bag, lol.

But really, though, I wasn't messing with you or anything. In reality, it doesn't take all that much stuff to push a bag to its limits, especially a smaller bag. For certain people, I think especially those who are involved in organized sports, a larger bag can make more sense that a smaller bag. It's just a matter of finding the right balance between size and practicality. For instance, you mentioned the locker thing -- if that's going to cause a real problem with a larger bag, then it might be the deciding factor in sticking with a smaller bag, unless you have a good alternative to using the locker (where your bag won't get stolen, etc.).

But as vinnier6 said, I like the idea of getting both (to meet "situational" needs) :)

But if that's not an option, try to figure out what the biggest headaches about the larger bag will be -- and if it turns out to be impractical, get the smaller one.

I have both a 12 pack & a 6 pack bag, & I use both for different situations. If I'm going to play in a tournament, league or other competitive match, I'm going to use my 12 pack bag because I can carry a half dozen racquets & all the clothing & accessories I need. If I'm going to hit with my girlfriend who is just learning the game, I have a 6 pack bag that can hold 2 other racquets, her racquet & about 50 tennis balls to feed to her. If I'm only going to play for an hour or so with someone, or someone else is going to pick me up to go to the courts, I'm more likely to use that bag.

I packed three racquets, two complete sets of tennis clothes (socks and underwear included), tennis shoes, towel, two quart thermos, container of Gatorade powder, and my bag of misc stuff (hat, overgrips, granola bars, etc) into my Dunlop six-pack.

Not a lot of room to spare, but not stuffed. I use my bike to commute from home to my local tennis club, so I don't want anything bigger than I need.

Not stuffed and even some room to spare. Hmmm. Must be an awfully roomy six-pack. ;)

Wow you serious!! Caswell, jeeze.. That must be a big six-pack that might fit my needs since I am looking into a dunlop bag.. The thing is I can get the 10-pack for around $30 and the 6-pack is $35.. Hmm, I should look into, that's a pretty big six-pack the way you described it, might fit all my needs!

Is it possible for you to take some pics?

Its better to get the bigger bag in this case. Its cheaper - might as well.

I had a 6 pack bag that I use for recreational use, but I also have a 12 pack bag that I consistently use because I can put all my clothing into it (consider shoes, towels, etc.

Go with the biggest bag you can find. I mean something REALLY big. Something of such obscene capacity that other players will back slowly away from you in awe when you show up on the courts (or when you show up anywhere, for that matter).

Oh that's awesome. It would be best if a group of monks brought the bag on the court, unzipped it, and you popped out of it, ready to go.

I'll try to remember to take some pictures when I get home.

The M-Fil 6-pack does seem a bit bigger than the really old (and tacky) Dunlop Revelation 6-pack it replaced. My doubles partner has a Wilson nCode 10-pack and it doesn't look much bigger than my bag.

Honestly though, if you don't mind having the bigger bag then more room is always better. Like I said, I ride my bike to and from the courts (a few miles away), so I actually wanted the smallest bag that would fit my needs.

Oh okay I see.. Hope you can take those pix.. Anyways yeah I see I would of probably went with the smaller bag if I biked to school and the courts, but yeah I get rides home, to school, to the courts, etc. So yeah I think I am going with the big bag but, it would always be good if you can take the pictures.

I might stick with my WILSON bag if I am just going out and playing some small play and not like organized or anything.

As my buddy from Quezon City would say, "Mabuhay!"

Unblelievable deal...used or new. Well done. Use it well on the court.
