Would it be legal to do something to your strings to make them "bite into" the ball more ? and thus give you more spin potential ? Maybe like, using sandpaper to rough 'em up, or use apply stick-um to the string to make them more, well, tacky ?

    Illegal or un-ethical ? Or neither ?

    Thanks

    sandpaper would smooth them down.
imagine the face on your opponent when the ball sticks to your strings.

If you want more spin, work on your technique. Don't use Evo-Stik

I think Nadal already uses Stick-em on his strings now, no ??

Evidence ( there are 2 examples of this in the video).

    I rest my case ! :)

I wonder if Fred Biletnikoff has any Stick-em left over ?

^^ That is called good eye-hand coordination and timming, most professional players can do it and I have seen doubles players doing that with fast pase volleys!

To the OP, you will not get more topspin by making your strings more tacky or rough. Brush the ball from bottom to top and you will increase your topspin regardless the string.

There is an ahesive spray, with diamond dust, that you can put on the sweet spot, which gets worn off pretty quickly, but bites the **** out of the ball.
