Am I the only one that would like to see players like Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and the rest of the top 10 concentrate on playing doubles for one season?

It would be awesome if the top players would do it.. There are many combinations of potential matches that could be great. :)

On a serious note, ATP doubles are very underrated. On some occasions, some doubles can be more exciting than singles matches. Goodness, I'm tired of seeing the same matches over and over again. I can't believe people aren't concerned of the lack of variety in tennis matches lately..

I would really like to see some exciting doubles matches. These top players could bring popularity into the doubles circuit and the players without a major or M1000 title can finally have a chance. Everyone wins! :)

I forgot to include a poll, but thoughts are welcome.

EDIT: Poll is added

We should allow the players themselves to decide if they want to play singles or doubles and whenever, or not.
Takes quite a toll on the body to play 5 matches in a week if you're winning, week after week, for even 2 months.

Hellz yeah.

Equal prize money for dubs and you've got yourself a working proposition.

I just looked at the ATP doubles rankings are the only 'star' players are the Bryan brothers.. seriously..

Don't lie to me and type that Dodig is a popular doubles player amongst tennis fans!

I think Marc Lopez has major star potential. He is just brilliant to watch--so quick and clever, with so much bravado.

Paes and Stepanek are a team that I think should have star power too. They are slightly greasy and louche, but tremendous fun to watch nonetheless. Old man Paes still got it going on at net with some of the best hands EVER.

Hmm why did you skip Djokovic and avoid mentioning hims as a top player???? So he is just a "rest of top 10" comparing to Murray and Nadal??????  Unbelievable disrespect.

I would say he's the weakest of the Big Four in doubles, that's for sure.

The Dream Team of dubs would be Feddy-Nadal. They are both great dubs players. And it would be fun-weird to see them working together for once.

I always thought Murray and Nadal would make for a fine team also. Murray has great all round skills and looks up to Nadal like he is an older brother.

There, I put Novak Djokovic in bold. Now, you can quit whining.

Thank you. I just don't understand why you skipped him. Djokovic is unappreciated and disrespected way too much here.

This being said Djokovic is for sure better doubles player than both Murray and Nadal. He was playing doubles several times in DC with Zimonjic and they were quite successful.

Yeah, Murray's good too. It would be interesting to pair him with Nadal. Who was he playing dubs with against the Russians (I think Youzhny was one of them) when they had that amazing point that went viral? Was it Djokovic?

I skipped Federer and Djokovic, so it was not odd at all..

I think the top 10 singles players could easily manage to be succesful in doubles, but why would they? Singles is what they do, it's way more popular and way more lucrative.

Wouldn't say that too fast. You're probably basing that on the fact that Djokovic doesn't have such a fast serve and doesn't come to the net that often. But a couple of months ago (forgot which tournament, but it was a M1000 or 500), Djokovic played doubles with Wawrinka and they did VERY well. IIRC they beat Mattowski and Fyrstenberg in the first round and they won their second match as well. After that they forfeited because Djokovic went deep in singles and I can imagine him not wanting to combine the two.

Also the matches Djokovic lost while playing doubles with Murray and Nadal were both very close and they could/should have won both of those matches IMO. Here's the famous doubles point he played with Murray:

All true, great post, but have to make one correction. Djokovic/Wawrinka forfeited because Wawrinka was hurt.

BTW Murray messed up that point after heroic effort by Djokovic.

Thanks for clearing it up. I didn't know why they suddenly didn't play that match and just assumed it was because Djokovic wanted to focus on singles.

I love watching doubles. It's a shame it's so low key, but I guess it's hard to get behind a pair compared to a single iconic player. The Bryan Bros have done as best they could, being American, dominating and being siblings, but they are only really known to fans.
