Was watching the big auction site for a Max 200g and just saw one sell for $270. It was new and unstrung but dang that is alittle ridiculous.

It's well known that dishonest people and scammers set up mulitple user accounts and buy from themselves/each other to build up a pseudo creditable track record before they scam people. While the example given may not specifically be a scam I wouldn't be surprised if the apparent market price was artifically inflated.

I recently bought a brand new Fischer VT Pro Spin 98" for about 50$ from a retailer.

The Fischer VT Pro Spin 98" is by all intents and purposes a 330g VT Pro 98" but with a 16X18 string pattern, a yellow bumper guard and 'spin' lettering decals.

I agree. I've seen these things a few times. I almost fell prey to one of these scams once. Just make sure you screen the people who do the bidding at certain price points (track record, references, etc).

Considering that its a classic players racket and very few left in the world in new condition, I think that price is still very reasonable. Heck, many new rackets are over $200. This racket is a piece of history. I would like to buy it, string it up with gut, and give it to Mac just to watch him hit using it. Bet he could still make it play like a magic wand!

i have seen similar auctions for brand new max 200g's, so not unusual. they're extremely difficult to find in that condition. it's a collector's thing.

Considering that a new Wilson W3 Gypsy Rose is almost $240, $270 for a brand new classic player's racquet that has not been made since 1992 sounds like a bargain to me.

I think thats a pretty good price.....even more so if you still play with that racquet as they are very very hard to find new. Great collectors piece too!
