I remember going to RAWs and Nitros and getting there early and how everyone would scream and yell when they were simply testing out the music and the entrances before hand.

I havent been to amtch in forever so cant comment on the crowds. But on TV they look pretty lame

Michael "Joe Hennig" McGillicutty suggested to John Laurinaitis that he use his real name last week. He was apparently told, "When you start performing like a Hennig, you can be a Hennig."

    http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2011/0829/543605/michael-mcgillicutty/#ixzz1r0brHWGq

But the other thing is you can't push everybody at once. Right now Rhodes and Ziggler seem to be the 'young guys' getting pushed, I'm sure Dibiase will have his time. Riley is meh, once his feud w/ Miz was over he fell flat on his own. He seems like a Rock wannabe rather than his own character.

That's one thing I will agree on. The crowds back then were more into the show, even midcarders got huge pops. Right now Cena, Orton, Rock, HHH, Taker, HBK, and I guess Lesnar are the only guys that can bring that sort of response from the crowd on a consistent basis. The crowd pops for CM Punk but not as much during his matches. Everyone else is just 'meh'.

Speaking of, I had to watch this documentary in my Mass Communications class. It's from 2003 but talks about the AE and how it basically perpetuated a bad image onto kids.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikDXcfzA848

I don't agree with most of the documentary's assumptions but I do agree that the AE was pretty over the top and downright embarrassing at times. I hope WWE NEVER goes back to that level of crass. Could it be more edgy? Yes. But should we have women barking on their hands and knees? No. If that stars up again I'll stop watching. I'm fine with this era, don't really get all the 'bring back the AE' stuff you see.

It was great for it's time but it's a different world now and the WWE had done good in reinventing itself. I know a lot of fans hate PG but it's definitely for the better and makes me feel less embarrassed to be a wrestling fan.

I even brought up how WWE has taken strides to become more friendly to kids and the anti bullying stuff, but my professor shrugged it off and said these representations still have an affect. You shouldn't take a movie from 10 yrs ago and say that represents what wrestling is now, is all I'm saying. Sorry, just had to vent a bit, seriously ticked me off.

that was the worst thing i ever watched. Seriously they take this stuff so serious. Its like telling me CSI is terrible because it might show someone how to kill. Its a tv show nothing more nothing less.

Also parents teach kids not wrestlers. sure I have had my share of royal rumbles with friends but when it came to hitting a woman my Dad taught me that was wrong. So I guess I am better than those guys because i can separate TV from reality?

Different guy, different spelling "Malenko" not "Milenko." Plus, Larry Simon ("The Great Malenko" aka "Boris Malenko"), died of lukemia in 1994, long before this song.

Maybe his two sons: Dean Malenko and Joe Malenko, pro wrestlers now retired. Boris Malenko was THE ultimate villain. No one milked the crowed better than him, especially during his cold war prime!

    Not to mention

Buddy Landell, Barry Horowitz/Hart, Masked Superstar/Demolition Ax, Gangrel, Norman Smiley, Alex Gibson, Paul Diamond, Mark Hildreth, Perry Saturn, The Field Brothers, Sean Waltman (X-Pac), Tyree Pride, and Crusher Doogan.

I think with ICP they changed the spelling for copyright erasons or something. I know those guys are huge wrestling fans and wrestlers themselves. They have the Juggolo Championship Wrestling promation as well.

They were inspired to name their album after him. People still write songs about Buddy Holly, he's been dead what, 50 years?

And didnt the album come out in 97?

Probably release an album 94-95 before they heard about Boris' death then decided to naem the new album after him. But then they had to tweak the spelling to not have to give that not acting no mic skill bumb Dean any cash

Because of that post I saw the debut of the missing link.

Was that guy ever popular? That debut was pretty bad. He just slugged on SD Jones for a bout 2 minutes did a powerslam and some kind of flying headbutt/forearm.

It was kinda funny when Heenan had to run backstage becuase he didnt come out and Gorilla said

    "The Missing Link, is missing"

Yep that was his hey day. He debuted in WWF in 1985 I think. He wasnt really around WWF for that long. He was for all i ntents and purposes a healthier George the Animal Steele.

Smackdown was OK, didnt exactly liek the ending of the Del Rio Shamus match. I guess Del Rio gets a title shot at next PPV or something

Also now that AJ is done with D. Bryan (hopefully) bring back Katlyn's thickness to television. That chickbusters deal was kinda funny as well.

They love pushing Del Rio. He is pretty good even if his gimmick has run its course. The car thing was cool for the first couple of weeks but the mexican JBL thing has run its course.

Brock should not be on a mic. Seriously dont let him talk ever. Let Jonny Ace talk for him as bad as he is at it but dont put a mic in front of Brock again.

I hope they bring back some aggression to Cena through this. They seem to be hinting at it and that will be great for his character. I love his telling the crowd the heel turn aint coming. Great way to stay face with the kids and give the people an actually reason to hate you.

ADR to me is stale and it was stale after the first month. Its just like you said, Its JBL all over again. The guy has ability and IMO its being wasted on his gimmick. They cant let Shamus win the belt in 18sec and have him lose it in two months can they?

I think for now ADR is filling the Heel role for the summer stretch. Are they preppin for another Mexico tour soon? If so maybe he does carry the strap for a bit.

Brock on the mic will lose any ability to stay a face at all. He is hard guy to like if you listen to him talk. Maybe Bring back Sable (his wife) to the talking for him. Heyman has said he hasnt been asked to come back. I think WWE fans would love to see Heyman in Brocks corner again.

The Cena thing can go a bunch of different ways. Hopefully one way isnt jobbin to Brock at next WM. I heard rumor that they are setting up a Brock vs Rock title match. Big mistake if thats true.

Brock's not supposed to be the good guy - coming out and siding with Johnny last night made that pretty clear. Cena's probably going to take some time off after he presumably loses to Lesnar, then maybe come back for Summerslam for a rematch. That's not dirt sheet stuff, just my estimation.

Meanwhile Lesnar may go after Orton next, then take down Punk for the belt since Punk and Ace already don't get along. That's how I see it playing out. I hate how everyone wants everyone to be great at everything. Brock isn't' that bad on the mic, he's not Punk/Rock/Austin level or even Cena on the mic but he gets the point across and gets the crowd into what he's saying. Similar to Mark Henry in that sense.

That segment to start the show was great though. Shades of Tyson/Austin from back in the day.

Brock is bad on the mic. I love him in ring one of the better monsters out there. But he is a prime candidate for a manager. Its not a bad thing. Heenen used to put guys over all the time who struggled on the mic thats what they need back.

Punk and Jericho are really going at it so I dont see how Lesner jumps in that. Unless he pushes Jericho out of the way but they are building for at least one more ppv match with those two.

Orton and Kane are still going strong. So not sure I agree with that one either.

I do agree he will kayfabe hurt Cena so Cena can take a break. Seriously when was the last time he had time off?

Punk and Jericho and Orton/Kane are both likely going to have feud enders at Extreme Rules. Punk's likely going to take out Jericho and send him away for awhile again. Same with Orton and Kane, though Kane will likely stay around and may even turn face since he does at least once a year it seems.

They're going to be pushing Brock hard it seems. Why else would they put him against Cena so soon instead of holding off until Summerslam for that one? I can see Brock running through Cena, then having a feud w/ Orton w/ a match at Over The Limit, then going at Punk for the title at No Way Out/Money in the Bank. Cena comes back after Lesnar wins/retains the title at MITB and they have a match at Summerslam for the title. Possibly even let Cena go over since he's been crapped on for the past few weeks now.

The last time Cena had extended time off was late 07 when he had an injury, then came back and won the 08 Rumble. They have to push Lesnar as a heel. There's just not enough strong heels for him to go up against as a face, while as a heel he can run through the guys I mentioned (Cena, Punk, Orton).

Good luck. Raw hasn't been interesting or entertaining in nearly a decade. The 'E hasn't had a great PPV year since '05, either. With the rock and lesnar back (both kinda, sorta), this is the company's best opportunity in years to make themselves relevant again.

They cant get him heel heat as long as he is against Cena. Cena is at that point Hogan was at before his heel turn. The older crowd hates the guy with a passion. People are cheering Lesner low blowing him. Heels are supposed to get booed when that happens so I dont see Lesner getting heel heat. He is over alot but heel heat he isnt gonna get.

I semi-agree. The product has been struggling and yes JBF is right they are thin at the top.

Oddly enough their best matches have been on NXT lately. some of those guys can really put a solid match together but the show was taken off tv which is a shame.

There are certain people that are going to cheer Brock NO MATTER WHAT. Of course he's a heel now since he sided with Ace. The Cena feud is just to get him over as a heel with the kids and Cena fans (yes there are some, not everyone hates the guy). Then he can move onto Orton and get even more heel heat, then beat Punk for the title and get mega heat from the internet/smarky crowd. The crowd reaction will change in due time, that's not a big deal right now. But they're pushing him to be a mega heel, that much is clear.

Didnt see RAW, but I can understand why they would use Brock in that capacity. Maybe when my buddy told me they are setting up Brock vs Rock WM for the title he isnt that far off.

But that Diverticulitis really affected him. He lost way too much muscle mass and doesnt have that same beast appeal. Id say Batista at this point probably would have been better to come in and take the monster heel role.

Did they do anythign with Tensai on RAW? I still got 4 more weeks of bowling so I usually catch the replays on Universal HD later in the week.

Maybe they have him play the moster heel as Tensai, then turn on his manger and claim he is tired of the stupid tensai crap and wants to grow his back hair back out and be A-Train again. Thus completing the face turn :)

You can usually find the full shows of Raw/Smackdown on youtube within a day of when they're over.

The opening segment was awesome. Batista's a dbag, I hope he never comes back. I don't care how much Brock's lost, he's still a bigger draw and more interesting than Batista ever was and ever will be.

I understand the Cena feud but i just dont see it happening. I do agree if they have him destroy Punk then he will get heal heat. Having him destroy Bryan would work as well as the internet smarks loves his work rate. I just think your gonna see him destroy guy after guy and still get cheered for it.

They havnt seen a real monster heel in a long time. Henry was so close but got injured then jobbed out which was a shame. Kane at this point isnt as scary as he was. So the monster heels have been lacking and Brock brings that. So people are gonna cheer him as everyone loves a monster that can actually move.

Had me dying laughing. I am not sure if they really believed people wouldnt remember who he was.

I guess if I had a bigger monitor it wouldnt be so bad. But I like the Universal HD replays and dont mind already knowing what is going to happen. I usually turn it on go take a crap and when a divas segmant comes on ill fast forward through that. Thank god for the divas or I wouldnt get to drop a duece in the middle of RAW or SD :)

I know brock will get more love than Batista. I was just trying to say Batistas physique is better at this point than Brocks. Brock still does habe the crazy looking eyes though. I liked Batista in Evolution but once he was main eventing I felt he couldnt hold his own very well. Very Goldbergesque.

Batista dropped some weight after he left WWE. He was in Miami for a triathalon last weekend.

Still big, but not as big as he was during the Evolution days. And if you want to talk about mic work then bring up Batista? Basketballs don't hold grudges Batista?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCt-HUn0AAU
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CybIKwEhX1k&feature=relmfu

They already did the monster thing with Batista as heel going after Cena 2 years ago, it was pretty good but would feel like too much of a retread now. Meanwhile Brock has been away for so long and has the reputation as a legit UFC Champ to fall back on, even if his physique isn't what it once was.

I don't think it matters how they push him if certain people are still going to cheer him. The crowd chants 'YES' for Bryan but he's not turning face anytime soon, at least I don't think. The crowd's booed Cena for years and he doesn't turn heel. Kane gets cheered even though he's a heel. So I'm sure they can live with some people still cheering Lesnar even though he's booked as a heel.

Its obvious Batista needs to get back on the roids :)

I guess maybe Sheffiled/Ryback (I hate that name) has potential to fill that muscle role. but Mason Ryan is pretty jacked as well.

    Forget I mentioned Batista :)

People love Brock and will always love Brock.

They should Bring back Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton as Viscous and Delicious. Then have the Dudleys come back and 3-D them through like 15 tables

I am not gonna lie I do get a little marky when the old timers come out. Its a child hood nostalgia thing. Sometimes it makes me feel like I am getting old though remembering Rowdy Roddy Piper when he was wrestling.

When they mentioned Piper on that special Smackdown I was hoping they were gonna have him crush a cocunut over Snukas head for old times sake.

Or if Snuka is too old and didnt want to do it have Piper smash it over Taminas head.

Pretty much every big fued back in the day would get started on Pipers Pit.

Edge had the Cutting Edge and Jericho had his deal, and brother love. But they never had the Piper edge to them.

Piper's still damn good on the mic. No, great. His segment last year with Cena trying to get him to turn heel was great.

One thing I noticed with old timers over the younger guys is the character development was much better. It seems like gimmicks are no longer over the top characters but more reality based which I get was what they wanted but I wish they would have held on to some of the character as I feel it really shined through with some of the guys.

Some guys like a CM Punk are great being themselves but others work a gimmick so well when its a character and not just im the bad guy gimmick.

He still is a monster no matter his voice. He brings legit fear with him into a ring. alot of these guys you look and only see a performer and think ya right like he could really beat that guy but with Brock that never happens. He is huge and strong so works as an intimidating monster.

Kinda like how Kane was before he got older and they tried to make him a good guy.

I was happy to see Mark Henry in a big match last night but they just dont do him justice. They have him lose to Punk which is ok but I dont know I feel like they show him as weak for some reason. I just loved his scary monster side and I just dont feel it anymore from him.

Monster heels generally don't have long pushes because once they lose, it's over, the aura is gone and they fall back to the midcard. I'm sure Henry's not complaining, he got a hell of a push last year, went over Sheamus, Orton, Show. But it's unreal to think he'd stay that strong forever.

I like the guy and he has been around forever and finally got his push. Even though he had the hand moment which was classic bad WWF moment. I just wish he had kept momentum instead of being jobbed out a little. Shame to see him go that way when you know he isnt gonna be going for much longer.

He had a pretty strong run nonetheless. Beat Orton clean at 2 straight PPVs. Bad ass run. Still he was going to drop the belt eventually, and losing to Show with a clear injury isn't exactly getting 'jobbed' out. Ask Bryan what getting jobbed out is for a heel. I'm sure he'll have another main event run, a feud with him and Sheamus for the belt would be fun.

He did have a good run and it was good to see after all the years of him being a company man he finally got rewarded. Just kinda disappointed to see it end but such is wrestling. On to the next guy or HHH vs HBK vs Undertaker once for the last time again.

Bryan cracks me up. He is degrading this girl so bad and yet people are cheering for it. Just no heel heat at all. The yes chants have the feeling of the what chants. Not sure I am gonna be a fan of that.

Jobbing out Bryan to Sheamus seems to have hurt Sheamus alot more. Just not a great way to exchange a belt at Wrestlemania at all. Not sure if they where punishing Bryan or just ****ty writing again. when I saw it happen I figured someone must have been hurt but that isnt the case.

Im not a fan of the yes chants. That what chants are pretty lame. But when R-Truth did the

    "Dont what Me."

    [Pause}

    "OK what me"

    it was kinda funny.

Thanks for the info I will be sure not to watch that as nobody can powerbomb anybody or do anythign remotly entertaining.
