Wrist soreness (though it's getting better).

    I'm righthanded that uses extreme eastern/semi-western forehand and an eastern 1handbackhand.

    Well I started getting some major wrist soreness after I switched from a 10.5 oz Prince Hybrid Shark to a 12.5 oz N-Code 90.

    3 Weeks ago I first used the N-Code 90 and played for about 5-6 hours. Woke up and I had no mobility in my wrist. It hurt just to supinate, pronate so I iced it up and took some tylenol pain relief.

    Well sporadically the last 3 weeks i've played some tennis for a good 1-2 hours each day that I did and the pain isn't getting worse, actually quite better, but it's feeling about 90% right now. It hurts when I do pushups because of the pressure applied.

    Mind you none of the pain is in the forearm or elbow area, it's near the visible small hump on your wrist is (on the outer side). I can supinate and pronate fully and the little pain left only is felt when I'm near the max supinate/pronate range for my wrist/forearm.

    So anybody that's experienced this pain before, can you tell me what this is?

    I figured it was just sprained or tendonititis.

    Typical. Ulnar area.
    I saw people (Division I) who had to go to surgery.
    Super serious stuff.

    You probably have a BAD wrist release (bad timing), and too much
    windshield wiper-ing, exagerated topspin.

    Go to a good coach.

    Search for more threads.


    Which strings, which tension? Use multis, under 64lbs.

    The windshield wiper-ing is probably what it is.

    But it doesn't hurt when I windshield wiper on a forehand from my shins and up , it only hurts on low balls to my forehand that I have to pretty much scoop up near my shoes almost like a half volley on the rise. Even then I dont' windshield wiper it, I just curl my arm like i'm doing a bicep to lift it.

    I'm using Big Banger strings, at the max tension. Though I'm probably going to go lower on my tension (experiment in the mid 50's) the next time I get it strung.

    I used a Wilson n61 for a few months and it killed my wrist - figured out after much research it was mainly due to the high swingweight. Switched racquets and now wrist is nearly pain free.

    Like I said, the good news is the pain is very minimal and it looks like it should be fully recovered. The pain the day after the first day was very bad, probably because I hadn't hit for 4-5 hours like that in some time.

    I've been able to hit here and there for 1-2 hours the last few weeks since the initial injury and my wrist seems to not be getting any setbacks after I hit, but recovering on time.

    I'm going to hit for like an hour today.

    Forget about Luxilon if you have such issues. Use multis, or else.

    The location of the pain suggests TFCC injury. I briefly had this injury when my strokes were too wristy along the direction of the thumb and pinky. Rest your hand for a few days and then when you start playing, remember to steady your wrist.

    Not to mention it was dumb of me not warm up my wrist and really stretch out before play. Plus it was dumb of me to go straight to "HARDCORE" and intense mode when beginning to rally and not start off slow and easy.

    I won't make that same mistake twice.

    You probably have what Guga Kuerten had. You use your wrist and not your forearm at your groundstrokes. The same had happened to Guga and he lost a couple of years. Now he'll never be back again the same way. Ask a tennis instructor to show you how to use ur forearm to hit faster. Or simply you can spend a few minutes watching fed's slow motion forehand video (YouTube) and check out what that guy does. You don't have to strech before play. Just look up about dynamic warmup and tennis. It's gonna reduce the pain gradially.

    I've been dealing with this sort of problem for close to a year I'd say. You may very well have tendonitis rather than a tfcc injury. I had mine xrayed a few months ago and that is what my doctor thinks the problem is..... Mine seems to flair up from time to time and get worse though there is always some pain during warmup. Keep in mind that I teach/play 7 days a week which doesn't help my situation.

    Can someone tell me how often you can do wrist strengthening exercises?

    Everyday? every other day? I mean i'll drop tennis for awhile to strengthen my wrist again.

    I had wrist problems around there too. I also know some people that have problems with their wrist. After rest, I've been doing some wrist exercises with weights, and it's all good now. The people I know who have problems with their wrist who never exercised their wrist are still suffering...haha :eek:

    Nah.

    Username came from an abbreviated version of my online video game name. It's easy to remember and unlikely someone already registered it on a message baord, so I use it universally everywhere. It's better than using a name like Jeff42868.

    Don't worry, you aren't the first to throw that theory out there.

    But back on topic.

    try open and closing your hand into a fist at a good pace until u feel a bit of burn dont over do it and if u work out any muscle you should give it a days rest to let it heal your tearing muscle tissue so =/ i think that might help im not really sure
