Hi, I've seen both on the forums and on TV that more WTA players ( than ATP) use full gut setups rather than the often seen hybrid with poly.

I was wondering what advantages there are to using full gut (besides comfort) as opposed to hybrid, as i thought the main benefit was a less stiff stringbed.

I seem to remember somewhere that clijsters uses gut? , or Ivanovic (could be wrong on that one)

    Cheers

The wta. Hits flatter than the atp so they don't need the spin poly can generate. They just want more power with the gut I guess.

Most of the players using gut use it in a hybrid. Most of the players I've strung for who use full gut are doubles specialists. I can't remember stringing for a current singles player on the men's tour using full gut. Notable female singles players using full gut are Clijsters and the Williams sisters. If you use the search function you'll be able to find a longer list of players using full gut.
