Obviously, I just found out about this like few days ago. Really, what the hell were they thinking? Havent they done enough wrong things already?

Players were complain about how strenuous a season is and now this is what they get. Also, the short indoor swing is now even shorter. Nearly on par with the poor grass swing now. Trying to slow tennis down ATP?

I think it's great. Hopefully the indoor tournaments can slowly be phased out by next year, just like carpet was.

    Oh yes, the subject.

Indeed, it is crap. It's a temporary fix. Only 2012 will we have this issue, 2013/2014 it's different - Paris in February.

Paris in 2013 will be in november. They're thinking in reschedule by 2014 onwards.

Not only that, let's retroactively nullify Monte Carlo as a Masters event!

It's almost as if they wanted to punish the players for wanting a longer off-season. It's a bit of an "on your head be it" statement.

The fact there is a good chance that at least one of the finalists in Paris will be playing in London the next day is a joke.

It's always been an issue that players are weary by the time we reach the WTFs, but there is end of the year weary that means most players aren't at their best, and just played a big match yesterday knackered that actually gives the finalists and even semi-finalists a discernible disadvantage.

Roger was never gonna win it anyway so your argument is invalid as of right now.

Since there are 3 clay Masters and 6 hard-court Masters events, if you take away Monte Carlo then you've got to take away 2 hard-court events. (Cincinnati and Indian Wells - 9 titles). Looks like Nadal wins.

And Nadal is the only player to win a title 8 consecutive times, a record.
And since Monte Carlo is his pet event, he can add to that for several more years, potentially becoming the first player to win an event TWELVE consecutive times. And that's not even considering other events where he'll be dominant too, like Roland Garros, Rome and Barcelona. All Nadal's pet events.

If Roger and Noel make final in Paris then one of them will have to play the next day in London.

No - it's impossible for someone using a username and IP address to post if that username/IP address is banned. The same person could of course post using a different username and IP address.

People don't get banned - usernames and IP addresses do.

True that, the fact that ATP Shanghai and Beijing are "tournaments of the year" already proved that the ATP excutives are nothing but a bunch of greedy @ssholes.

Oh, and stop quoting scholars bob and 616360 if you guys dont mind.

No surprise, Federer's final line is predictable, boring, obvious, stupid. Glad you kept it realistic. And people thought Sampras had no personality.... But Sampras was always able to complete a deadpan zinger. Unlike Mr Dull Swiss cheese.

No use blaming the ATP, afaik, it was the players that wanted a longer off season (part of which some of them could play exhibitions in, but that's another discussion).

Are you for real? Nobody was more dull than Sampras. He was a great player but he had zero personality. Federer's personality is much better and he is 100 times more popular than Sampras ever was. Stop trolling. Nobody takes you seriously, we know you are just looking for attention. (I don't know why I am giving you any, but like zagor posted recently, sometimes it is impossible to ignore your silly comments.)

It's dumb. They gave an extra week to the off-season by sandwiching two big tournaments together. Now we're seeing the results - Paris is taking a huge hit with big names either withdrawing or fizzling/tanking.

They really need to figure this out. It sounds like they're going to eventually put Paris in February which makes sense since it's a desert wasteland month of tennis.
