    Gold 16 x 19 string pattern. Platinum 18 x 20 pattern. Open vs Closed.

Take your pick. I've got the X-Platinum unreleased version 18 x 20. Fantastic stick. I'm getting a X-Dual Gold 99 this week. We'll see how they stack up.

Had both for extended demos. As KalEl put it, the Platinum 99 plays a bit like a pro stock prestige. I liked the Gold 99 and 94 but fell in love with the additional control of the Platinum 99. I made the switch to the Platinum about a month ago and have loved playing tennis again. I think it has a more solid feel to it when you really generate a great amount of racquet head speed. The Gold series was great, but did not have that solid feel I just mentioned. Maybe it's the string pattern, maybe it's the difference in flex. Either stick is a winner in my opinion. Take them out for an extended demo.

I demoed both extensively and loved both racquets. I ended up getting the Platinum 99 for it's solid feel and control. I loved the feel of the Gold however, I just couldn't get the control I needed. I have played with dozens and dozens of racquets over the years. I am definitely a racquet freak! I can honestly say, the Platinum 99 is the best I have ever used! In my humble opinion, it has it all!
