yamaha eos zl3

    I have one. does anyone know what year these were made? also when did Yamaha get out of the tennis racquet biz and for what reason?

    Not sure what the z|3 is all about.

    I still have a Yamaha EOS, btw. The frame came out in 1990.

    Yamaha was early into widebody frames. I sold, for me, a huge amount of Secret 04 and 06 frames. Give folks a few demos and virtually always they selected an 04 or 06. (Yes, I know folks today consider them quite stiff, but they WERE very good for that day.) The EOS came after the Secrets and was quite light.

    I've lost track of the history and timing, but this is my estimate: Yamaha dropped out of the US market about the time the EOS came out. They came back briefly before dropping out for good. At the first exit, I believe they commented that they couldn't compete profitably in the US.

    Gabriela Sabatini played beautifully ;) with Yamaha.
