Who do you think will be year end #1 for the women in 2008?
Henin hands down, don't see anyone who could take the number one ranking away from her.
Maria, you will see
maria for sure...
Maria is coming back....we'll see how she fairs with injuries in 08
Henin has really hit her stride....I think she's got a year or two more to be #1
I would Like to see Jankovic if possible....if she cuts down on her tournaments...But if Henin is healthy and Dominant it would most likely be her.......be good to see if she can get all 4 slams too
She had a great beginning to the year and a great end to the year. And all the stuff in the middle was pretty standard. Henin missed the beginning of the year, and had a fabulous year then onward. Part of getting to no.1 and finishing no.1 is being consistent throughout the year.
I do believe it will be Sharapova. I would like it to be Ivanovic but the mouth will take it next year.
Sharapova is having increasingly more trouble with movement and injuries because she is so tall. Henin is the obvious choice, but would be too boring of a pick. Look for Anna Chakvetadze to rise to number one with her brain and guile!
ON SECOND THOUGHT:
As far as I know, Anna is the only player in WTA history to stop a point because her hair was caught in her racquet.
Henin is the abvious favourite.
If anyone was to pose a challange I would go for Sharapova as being the most likely candidate.
For me Sharapova is still the second best player in the world despite her fall in the official rankings due to shoulder injury.
I cant decide my vote on this yet since I am not certain whether or not the great Jennifer Capriati is making a comeback to the WTA tour.
She will never be #1 imo.. that girl wants to cry after every point she loses. She mentally isn't strong enough to reach #1.
As long as not the Williams sisters........that would be fine for me.........oh yeah and not Ivanovic too.
Has anyone seen the final year-end ranking? And Justine didn't even touch the Australian summer, so Justine will hold on to the number one spot.
No way can Sharapova finish at #1.
I picked Henin.
No Williams votes so far, well I guess even if they did better then Justine when they played (and I dont think they will) they wouldnt have enough events to be #1.
Isn't there a limit to how many polls someone can start in a week?
Maria has about as much chance as Billy-Jean King at being #1 again! lol
based on the championships final this fall, if maria can stay in that form...she could make the run and test henin...but henin has been so steely and focused...unless she gets hurt I don't see it happening...Henin all the way
As much as I would like to see Masha I think Henin is on a run that will continue. If Masha can stay injury free and regain some fire in her play she could do it.
I dont like Maria at all so I hope you are right.
